Armory is in my sig. I just picked up a Girdle of Treachery tonight, and while it's an obvious upgrade, I'm debating whether or not I want to put two +8 AGI gems in there (to satisfy the socket bonus) or two +8 hit gems in there (to compensate for the hit on my current belt).

Spreadsheet says that the AGI gems will give me a 0.09% DPS increase, and the hit gems a 0.14% decrease. Is that right?

Thoughts?

-0.05%.

Those are unbuffed values too. The only gem combo that yielded a positive gain in buffed DPS was the AGI gems, but it was only a 0.04 hard DPS gain.

I'd personally use Glinting Noble Topaz (+4 Hit, +4 Agi) to socket it myself, but that's because I'm paranoid about Hit Rating.

If you feel that you're not hitting enough, go for Glinting. If you feel that you're not hitting hard enough, go +8 Agi gems. Either way, as you said, the difference between the two gems sets is minimal at best.

In general(and my advice in this instance) socket hit until you are in the 270 range, you can always replace at a later date with ap/agi gems when you get other gear upgrades that will include more hit.

Everyone always discounts the +16 AP gems, but if you're like me, and not likely to see 25 man content, then those are about the best you can do for DPS. If you don't have 3 pallies in the party so you can get Salv, Might, and Kings, then +16 AP is gonna be better than +8 agi.

If you don't want to lose the hit, then go with the Glinting Noble Topaz.

For me, +8 Hit > +16 AP > Everything else. Actually, the 16 AP gems are the best for a long time (I'm a +hit *****, though, so I still prefer those). You'd have to have some serious AP to have the minor crit from the agility gems come out on top.
