Music during PvPFollow

Don't lie. I know you guys relish annihilating everyone else in BGs. Especially YOU, Mr. I-use-a-128-dps-2h-to-smash-faces.

The question is, during said face-smashing, what horrid bloodthirsty music do you listen to?

Me? I'm a big fan of Aqua. Nothing beats watching my MS crit for 2300 on a mage when I'm singing along to "Barbie Girl" by Aqua.
"IM A BARBIE GURL IN A BARBIE WURLDDDD"
>.>

Actually, I listen to Disturbed (original, I know -_-) and some Project 86 when faces require smashing. Whenever we're getting horribly beaten in BGs or arena though I play "Scat Man" supremely loudly over Ventrillo and /dance.

Share your angry warrior music tastes here. I've been in dire need of new PvP music anyways.

Ps: For all you metal heads: "Edgecrusher" by Fear Factory = win.

I'll see if I can somehow make a bald nightelf with no ears and meet you there with my ontourage. Then get some dark skinned dwarf to go get his arm cut off for comic relief.

Oh and I listen to the Richard Cheese version of "Down with the Sickness."

Manowar isn't viking metal. Viking metal is a subset of black metal.

This is viking metal:

That said, I listen to everything when I'm in BGs. Was having a real good time listening to Between the Buried and Me the other day. Wasn't feeling the David Sylvian though. The Good Son almost put me to sleep, which is bad news when you're pounding on Vanndar.

ACTUALLY manowar began the viking metal subset. However, they focused on both, mythology AND random heavy metal topics in their lyrics and some say they never fit in the "viking metal" genre as much as the straight up "heavy metal" one. Although their new CD is quite the viking metal.

neither black or viking metal are real subsets of each other.

the main "pure" viking metal band is bathory who if you listen to their later [more true to the VIKING metal genre] albums, they don't include the famous "low quality" recording sounds, or growling lyrics or the musical styles..

black metal is a whole separate identity of metal as a whole. What you linked isn't "pure" viking metal.

Viking metal is a sub genre of HEAVY metal in general. The only thing is its emphasis on norse mythology. When bathory [which was inspired by manowar] became known for being the "pioneers" of viking metal, they were still heavily influenced by black metal and thus the genre of VM was originally made with black metal influences. If you listen to their more "pure" viking metal albums they have just about no black metal in it what-so-ever.

ENSLAVED started as a death metal band, which later turned into a black metal band. After a while they kind of changed genres to "progressive" metal, and began incorporating viking metal themes from bathory . Enslaved latest album from which you linked the song from, has almost NO black metal influences at all besides the singer's voice.

having done 2 college research papers on metal and a high school paper for black metal I think I may qualify for saying what I just did ;).

Eh, you can debate modern Enslaved being viking metal. If they had a video for 793 (Slaget om Lindisfarne) I would've posted that. And you can even debate viking metal being a subset of black metal. You can't debate Manowar being viking metal though, they are power metal. ;)

Enslaved's old stuff isn't death metal though, their old stuff is pure viking metal. Ever listen to Eld? Lots of Bathory influence in that one.

I normally listen to As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, From Autumn to Ashes, Bullet for my Valentine, Breaking Benjamin, Senses Fail, The Used, Story of The Year, Yesterday's Rising. Most of the more hardcore screamo stuff gets me going. I just get focused and in that state of destroying clawthies!

they're DEF. not POWER metal. Heavy =/= power. Also, their newest album can EASILY be described as viking metal, although it CAN be argued that it's also symphonic metal... but that's really just a BS sub-genre that really doesn't exist.

it's really the same with black metal. Yes, you can look at bands like mayhem and immortal and etc. but if you look at burzum and his windpipe concert-like album - that can be argued as black metal too.

enslaved early albums are influenced by early bathory when they were primarily black metal themselves. Their [enslaved] latest album being the most viking-y.

Less heavy but I think one of the greatest bands to Mosh, PvP and generally listen 2 is:

Rage against the Machine....and Hip hip hooray they're back together and touring

Others would have to be Audioslave, Parkway Drive, Wolfmother, Led Zepplin, Linkin park and the sometimes on the off day a lil bit of The Offspring

I've listened to metallica and maiden since I was pretty much 3 years old, but they just don't cut it for me PVP wise. Yes they have a few GREAT songs for pvp, but besides from being a little sick of them, I don't really feel like going through and separating them from their worse songs.

Right now I'm into hello's new CD as well as blind guardians older stuff. Mix in dimmu borgir, death, the crown and immortal and I pretty much have the perfect range of all metal B)

Besides the fact that Manowar sucks, they were around (unfortunatly) way before any talk of this black/viking/death metal you speak of. I really don't get the pigeonholing and "subets" of metal, but since you insist, I have to agree with the power metal "category".

That being said I say Metal is Metal is Metal. There's good metal and then there is sucky metal, take your pick. Personally I'm a little more old school in my tastes, i.e. Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica(pre Bob Rock), Megadeth, Testament, and lets not forget the forefathers of it all Black Sabbath. But I draw the line when the "singer" sounds like cookie monster. I hate that **** more than anything.

Nativity In Black is a great tribute collection of Black Sabbath tunes by the likes of Fear Factory, White Zombie, Al Jourgenson (of Ministry), etc.

if you think that manowar is power metal you need to clean your ears ;) may as well call judas and maiden power metal. If you don't like them that's fine, but you can't argue about how much they did for metal and how much they support it, which I guess is what being a metal head is all about hm?
