Id like to work on a talent build which allows me to maintain a high level of dps for a extended period of time for raid groups. Im kind of torn between the typical 10/48/3 or a 40/21/0 build. My gear is decent. For my current 40/21/0 build, Im getting about 10k mana and about 1k damage. Speced fire, I have considerably less mana, roughly about 8k, but do more dps. Which build is preferable for keeping high dps for extended periods of time in raid groups?

10/48/3 will almost certainly be higher DPS at your gear level(I'm making a few assumptions based on your spell damage and mana pool as 40/21/0). And you can keep up the damage for a fair amount of time, even longer by putting up mage armor where needed for endurance fights.

40/21/0 is only better at much lower gear levels.
