Makes sense to shoot someone 1 yard away.

Of course it's horrible and ridiculously overpowered.

But it makes sense. Perhaps they could do something like FFXI did: if the rangers got too close their ranged attacks actually diminished in strength. They could fire, but if they shot at point blank it did somewhat close to 10% of the damage it used to.

I have a rogue and a hunter, so I'm not sure whether I should be filled with outrage or unmitigated joy. 0_o

Edit: I'm hearing on the hunter board that there have been some bugs in the ptr that are causing errors in hunter range. I imagine it is still supposed to be 5-6 yards for ranged attacks,despite what some people might experience in ptr.

the screenshot shows the arcane shot tooltip at 1-35

as for the range thing, i wouldnt mind 1 yard autoshoot... but a 1yd conc shot? if it procs imp? how bout wyvern sting? or aimed shot, BM mode he just tanks ya and does 2 or 3 of em?

the ways it affects hunters, particularly

conc shot
silence shot
aimed shot
wyvern sting
the new arcane shot

any hunter could go BM and tank someone to death, since they ranged for melee.... its ridiculous

And if you read MY link, you will see a Blue post saying tooltips showing minimum distances are bugged.

They should take off max ranges for one day. Have it happen on April 1st or something. Outside of instances you are not safe anywhere anytime.

Its a shame the pre-BC world is too glitchy for flying mounts to ever exist here.

I have a great memory of being stuck in a bowl-shaped depression in the stonetalon mountains and having to heart home to SW.

this is a decent idea but omg, the cries from evry ranger could be heard for miles when squeenix brought out the nerf bat for this one. did a lot of damage to the class(job) but it really was overpowered and rediculously easy to play before this patch.

yay from hunter point of view though lol. i can't count the number of times i've been in some sticky situation where i couldn't get enough distance either due to LoS, aggro range, or something like a cliff edge and had to lolmeleehunter. :P

All I can say is that, as a hunter, I am terrified of the dead-zone change. In the hands of a capable player, we are already able to deal with most situations--we're survival artists.

Yes, giving us a smaller dead-zone may help some of the huntards of the world, but ultimately all it will accomplish is Blizzard taking the nerf-bat to us and swining it where it counts. I'd love to see them implement these changes one at a time as was said, but implementing the changes to wyvern sting, arcane, and the dead-zone all at once is only going to bring cries of nerf.

At least a lot of other classes (eg rogues) will benefit as well with the patch--maybe that'll take some of the heat off of my main. It's just that we're already hated because of how few people can play the class... and I think this is just going to make things worse and make the people who rolled a hunter to ZOMG PWNZ pewpew smile their gap-toothed, lackadaisical smiles and drool on themselves in front of the keyboard a bit longer.

Maybe I'm over-reacting...

was at work, and only had time to quickly read your link, i must have misunderstood it... i got my thing from worldofraids, and they compile blue posts, so usually they would be co-inciding with all of the blue bug posts ya knows?

zulfrieze, statistically Hunters (even ones who play well) are the weakest class in the game. They need buffs, but a 1 yard firing range is stupid.

Shao, I'll agree. And my arena rating is certainly not going to show anything to the contrary. However, I tend to do very well in AV and battle-grounds. Our drawback is that we need room to kite. I've seen some terrifically gifted hunters (AKA Pup on Dunemaul) who can hold their own against anyone. The problem is that most of us (sometimes, even myself included) who can't overcome the shortcomings of the class.

I think statistically we are the weakest because hunter is the easiest class to play and one of the hardest to master. Could be wrong, though =) And I'm certainly far from mastering.

Max level + 8 archery merits + Sharpshot + Patriot Protector's Arrow + 125 R.Acc = 'Your Sidewinder misses the level 1 garbage mob.'

I remember that distance Nerf.... that was what stopped me from leveling my RNG higher in FFXI.... No, don't do that in WoW. Please.
