For those of you who AoE grind.....Follow

I have been leveling up a mage in hopes of finally trying out AoE grinding. I realize the basics of what would be involved, however, I am not certain as to where to go at each level range.

I looked over the FAQS and stickies trying to find a decent guide for info regarding grinding spots, but have come up short. I am on the horde side and looking for appropriate spots to grind starting at level 20 and on.

For those of you who have tried this method, can you give me any tips/pointers as to where I should be trying this out. What spots are good? What spots won't work due to runners/etc.

Thanks!

Well, I don't know what level you are at, but these are the ones I suggest (don't start until 40 imo, since you get the (still imo) essentials then, being ice barrier and mount):

40-44: Murlocs in northeastern Dustwallow Marsh.

44-50: Pirates at Lost Rigger Cove, Tanaris.

50-54: Undead at Sorrow Hill, Western Plaguelands.

54-58: Undead at Dalson's Tears, Western Plaguelands.

And, if you wish to go on with AoE even post-tbc which I would not suggest, then here are the spots for outlands.

58-62: Carrions east of Honor Hold, Hellfire Peninsula.

62-66: Carrions south of Temple of Telhamat, Hellfire Peninsula.

66-70: Humanoids or whatever they are, got no more specific name of those floating, purple-ish dudes but whatever at The Heap, south of Area 52.

Hope that's enough info. If you need the lower levels aswell, or any other questions, just throw me a PM.

grinding at sarrow hill is amazing. Seems to have a decent drop rate of green items and the grey drops all sell for around 1g. Also you get a lot of runecloth so if your tailoring you'll be covered and if your not 3g a stack isn't bad (not sure of prices of other servers. That seems to be the median on Dmaw.)

I can recommend more mobs, beside NameAlreadyExists ones, in TBC for AOE farming, dont know the level ranges though, ive AOE grinded all the way to 70 on my mage with exception of some group quests for blue items.
It was a while ago though.
So here some cryptic mob descriptions.

- The demon pigs in HFP
- The bog lords in Zangamarsh.
- The undead zombies south of auchidon, Terrokar forest
- The vultures around Auchidon, Terrokar forest.
- The birds and bulls in Nagrand, they dont aggro on sight but you can use elemental and AE to gather 10-12.
You can do all the safari quests very fast and then keep on grinding on those animals.
- the rock elementals in Nagrand.
- the bird dragons (fairy dragons?) in Blade edge,
- Raptors in Blade's edge (watch out for the serpents)
- Melee demons in blade edge, they mostly walked groups with a bulk of melees with 1-2 casters that you can avoid pulling or single target kiling first.
- The rippers and basilisks in netherstorm.
- Rippers in Shadow moon vally and some of the melee orcs around black temple, theres a bunch of them in the south east corner with a unsnarable elite patrolling there, they respawn pretty quickly.

I have been in Hellfire from 58-63 (Horde) and found quite a few places to AOE (in addition to standard buzzards around temple of Telhamat:

The gateways east of Reaver's hill. The demons there are easy. The few with ranged are short cast times and not a problem with Ice Barrier up. Very fast respawn rate. Gotta watch, cause they do have patrols, but if you time it that's just more exp.

Some of the demons in the invasion points north of Trallmar. Kinda uneven terrain though.

Meleers around Zeth'Gor. Too many casters with Skellys in Zeth'Gor, but there are a few pulls worth of 6-7 orcs at a time. Work east with orcs and back west with vultures to the north.

Line of ghost soldiers east side of expidition armory (two pulls worth, watch knights who charge/ stun but have fewer hit points than soldiers.

One note: I put ice barrier back up before second frost nova. Some of those mobs hit too hard without it. Also distances can be deceiving. The times I have died are in uneven terrain when I can't get my first blizzard put down right.

AOE grind is very viable in TBC.

Moving on to zangamarsh, so I'll let ya know.

Great spot! I divided it into 4 pulls. One of them being about 13 mobs. Be sure to take out the shooters one at a time then run in and collect the runners.
