Shadow meld for Elf Hunter PetsFollow

I am a Night Elf hunter. Can anyone please tell me where to get the quest that I can do to get Shadow Meld for my pet as well.

The quest giver is actually a night elf inside thunder bluff. Since the tauren and night elves were working together in moonglade, an ambassador was sent to Thunder Bluff in Mulgore, the Tauren city. Now, for some reason it doesn't show up on wowhead or anything like that (they've got most of the characters but not this one). So you can either get to Illyana Moonsire by avoiding the guards as much as possible, or by grinding TB rep. There are some repeatable quests inside of the wailing caverns that you can do to grind rep, but it takes forever to get to "unfriendly" with the tauren, which is what you need for them to let you through.

Flaming people for asking questions that you think are silly is one thing. Being a prick and feeding them false information that could result in them wasting a ton of time (even if only time to do some research and find out you were being a prick) is uncalled for. There is a growing trend I see that goes beyond harshly correcting people for violating subjective posting conventions in the Hunter forum and just being malicious bastards. Smarten up.

The simple answer to the OP's question is this:

There is no quest to get Shadow Meld for your pet. It's a Night Elf racial and that is all. People wanting to have a pet that can stealth will get a cat and teach it Prowl (if it doesn't come with it when you tame it). That way, you can set your pet on Prowl, Shadow Meld your Hunter, and both you and your pet will be stealthed. That is the only option.

The sticky also says go to Petopia, obviously he didn't read it, so therefore it was totally necessary

I think you might have overlooked the point. Had it been a simple flame, a "go read the ******* sticky," a "goddamit you noobs **** me off,"...anything like that...it would have been par for the course. Not something I would necessarily support in this case, but not in any way uncommon.

Lately, however, it hasn't been enough to harshly correct people. If you read Skribs' post in this thread from the perspective of a newcomer, it's actually quite plausible, and that's just pointlessly cruel and malicious. It's one thing to be harsh...it's another thing to do something that could wind up with someone wasting an hour or two out of their day with only a repair bill to show for it. Nobody granted Skribs, you, me, or anyone else entitlement to punish people for asking questions we don't approve of. They've given us entitlement to voice our opinions more or less as we see fit, but that's where it ends.

In fact, if the OP was under the impression that there was a quest that allowed Night Elves the ability to teach their pets Shadow Meld, they might well have already invested half an hour searching through quests trying to find it before they came here and asked. This was probably one of the more unique questions I've read on this board in a very long time. But instead of, "Pets can't learn Shadow Meld...go to Petopia and read about cats", they get, "heheheh I'm an insecure ******* and I feel better about myself when I can ruin a couple of hours out of someone's day."

Defending that kind of thing is just as bad as doing it. If flaming folks is something you like to do (I do it on occasion myself), that's a part of teh intarwebz and people will hopefully develop a thick enough skin to deal with it. Pointless malice that can ruin someone's experience in the game, however, is totally bloody unacceptable.

Oooor you could realize that for such an outlandish story, the person is either completely ******* retarded and will do exactly as he says, or they'll wise up, laugh at the joke, and do their own research. Which is exactly what was intended.

What's it like way up there on that horse?

So says the Intarwebz Law!

Seriously, where do you come up with this? Everyone on these boards can do pretty much whatever the hell they want. This is a mainly self moderated community, and if you don't like it you rate it down. That's how this site works. If I felt like it, and could pull it off, I could send every single new Hunter into Outlands to pick on Deathskitter, and I would be entirely within my rights to do so.

The question is, is it the right thing to do?

Contrary to popular belief, I am not cruel. I find the pain of others amusing, but in a benign way. I do not cause it without a reason, and unless the OP is ridiculously retarded I might just pop a reference to the sticky somewhere in my various recommendations for future endeavors. See the Training Points thread for a reference. In this particular case I just might agree with you, that the sticky/petopia ought to have been referenced.

However, that high horse you rode in on is currently being aimed towards the meat grinder. You are not the fUcking authority on what is and isn't allowed on these boards. That is the providence of Admins and the FAQ/Agreement you signed when you first made an account. Voice your opinions on board behaviour all you want, but try to order a certain type of behaviour/posting onto me and the results will be epic I can assure you. Your authority here ends at the Red Arrow, and at this point it fails to do more than tickle half the posters on these boards.

Try heading to the Asylum and tell Samira or Jophiel how to post. Better yet, hit the OoT which has lately become far more... receptive... towards twats that try to impose their sense of justice and rules of behaviour. You'll find that opinions are welcomed, and high horses are shot on sight with the owner ending up raped.

if you are a NightElf and you have a cat with Prowl, use this macro:
# show shadowmeld
#showtooltip shadowmeld
/cast [nocombat, nostealth] Aspect of the Beast
/stopcasting
/cast [nocombat] Shadowmeld
/cast Prowl
/cast [stealth] Aspect of the Hawk

You do realize, that if somebody is dumb enough to believe the stories we throw out it is their own dam fault right?

We are also entitled to voice our opinions, that is why it is called the right to free speech. We are simply voicing our opinion of what the OP should do in order to find out what he needs to know.

Wow lol, do you realize how much hard work it requires in order for some of these people to come up with this ****? Probly about half the time it took for you to put down the entire hunter community.

I think in this perticular case, it is the horse that is up on him.

I actually agree with the flamer. Who's to say what's right? If he felt it was needed, so be it. I can't say that after hearing the same thing over and over I would'nt be just as grumpy about it. Although, I'd probably say something at the end, "and if this doesn't work, try reading the stickies in the forum and you can avoid such problems like this in the future."

Reguardless, I wouldn't find myself defending someone who can't click a link as thorough as Petopia. (which is mentioned in the stickies as we all know, quite a few times.)

Awe, thanks Caldone! >hugz< Does get kind of old to keep having to tell people I'm a girl. My S/N is my character name, and I think my guild believes me without me posting my myspace merely because no guy in their right mind would call themselves Raynebow unless they were openly asking to be spammed to death.

And yes I meant I agree with Skribs. Kinda forgot to look at the name. I think there are softer ways to do what Skribs did, but I don't expect guys to be soft. lol

There are no women on the internet. This is a proven fact. So, that means that Raynebow is actually a 35 year old fat guy, sitting in his mothers basement. This is the Law of the Intarwebz, and the only exceptions require full frontal pictures with scanty clothing. For verification, you need to hold a poster saying "I wud sex u all lololololol".

Until then, you are 35, fat, bald, and yelling to your mom for twinkies and a new coke.

See Below. I read North's response in the training points thread and about spit my coffee out laughing. You can pretty much cut-n-paste it in almost any situation.

Its a perfect response to the ops question IMO.

And fwiw, why the hell are people so touchy anymore? Why do people have to be sooooo offended by every little friggin thing anymore? Let it go, relax and laugh a little.

I have to agree again. There are no women that play WoW. Its like Bigfoot, they are rumored to exist but no one ever has undeniable proof. :P

KD that is true however, since you could never ever get proof until you met the person, why not just play along ;)
