Woot, I dinged 68 today and to my happiness I got my Fire Elemental guardian, man does this guy kick butt! I mean as a Resto Shaman I really look forward to this guys cooldown being ready in WSG. He just goes around wailing on whoever and his AoE every few seconds, it's really awesome.
But the thing is, I find that he blows away the earth elemental guardian away like crazy with DPS.
Is there something I'm missing with the earth elemental guardian? His damage is pretty weak. I did notice however he has really high threat in PvE, pulling bosses off the tank in no time but dying pretty quickly.
One more question...I've never tried, but are you able to heal these guys?

gratz on leveling there =)...um lets see where to begin? The Fire elemental of course is going to out dps your earth, and to be honest thats whats its for. Now i only have a lvl 9 shaman but i do know a thing or two. Your earth one is relly for those o **** situations when in instances. its not suppose to be used in instance if you have a good tank. Maybe u could use it when he dies and you need help. HIs main job is take take agrro off of you and the people around you. And yes you can and should heal them. help this helps im sure hopefully someone else will be able to clear it up better
Fire is your DPS elemental, Earth is an aggro grabber, it generates aoe threat and will save your *** if you pull more than you can handle. Both elementalss can be healed and also buffed so drop an Earth Shield on it and it will last for ages.

LOL, I have a lvl 61 hunter. Doing my daily quest in Hellfire I got killed by a lvl 70 Shammie with the earth elemental. This guy had 4 totems down. Now I know what it is. My shammie is only 27 so that was a new one for me. Nice to know I'll be getting some interesting stuff post 60.

Earth Elemental can be a good ****** button in some cases. He doesn't last long at all, but allows tanks to figure out what they're doing. We had our shammy use him on Bear boss on ZA a few nights ago - got two-shotted, but gave the tanks enough time to sort things out (I pulled aggro and both warriors and the druid all taunted -_-). Of course, only works on mobs that can be taunted, which does limit its use in most raiding situations, though it's still useful in 5-mans and heroics.
With the heal->heal+dmg/heal changes in 2.3, Fire Elemental will be a *really* nice DPS on bosses for resto shammies.
