Well it was to be expected, but seriously put a dam sock in it!

*My 2 cents aka. Rant

So there I am in Shat, just flying through on my way to do a little hunting. As I pass through the city, general chat pops up. I start to scan through chat to find the usual spamming of WTS, and LFG only to see a whole bunch of poo flinging, and all at hunters! There they were, just calumniating at anything that popped into their pea sized Intel in reference to hunters! And no, not just the one or to of them, but like 5-7. The flavour of the minute was of course, the changes to be introduced in the next patch 2.3.
"Arcane shot debuffing, that’s bull $%^#, hunters just shoot arrows, how the hell are they allowed to take away my de-buffs!"
(Just keep flying, bite your tongue, he's probably doesn’t even know what a razor is)
"What about this no dead zone! If the arcane debuff wasn't over powering them well we mays well just let hunters rule wow all together!"
(Well as much as the new no dead zone is concerned, I kind of agree that to take it away would give us a huge advantage and I am dreading the influx of more "lazy" huntards who just sit back an pew pew pew. Now they won't even move! It's a balancing thing. But as for "we mays well let hunters just rule the world" As much as I like to think we so, if you so vexed with your own class, re-roll or walk away!)
"Even the instant cast on wyvern sting, hunters should not be getting any new benefits, they should be getting dam Nerfed!"
(Must resit the urge to make foul comments about how their whole family is an incestuous mess of in bread hill billies)
But before I get the chance another hunter pipes up with a simple
"I'm sure that other classes will be getting new additional changes too! Blizzard isnt'stupid!"
For this he got flamed, with an amount to flavoured words that would have left him unable to sit for the next or so! Ok, I understand that there is a lot of anti-hunter crud flying around these days, but what are these gamers juiced up on! It's like there is new plague sweeping across the land known as "Huntearing" where u just rip someone a new one just because they are a hunter! Is it safe to log in again?!?!
#2REDACTED, Posted: Oct 24 2007 at 5:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) basically the problem is that hunters are the most played class and this simple fact makes hardcore players or just players who are new or want to be different think that class must be the best. whether they become a hunter or not doesn't matter.

Reading your post was slightly painful due to horrid formatting. But other than that, it mostly just confirms what I've been saying for a while here:

Stop fUcking with our class! Sure, we could use a little love in certain places, Arenas for one. But then the "zomg I used Aimshot, mutlishot and Arca an he didnt fall doan lol wtf!!!!!!" crowd went overboard and requested all kinds of crap for our class. The change in Arcane Shot was actually welcome to me. I wouldn't really consider it much of a change, and situational at best. Still, a nice little buff that might prove to become interesting when making strategies against different class/specc setups. Wait, they are also making Wyvern Sting instant? Why? It is an awesome buff, but why combine it with another one, like Arcane Shot?

.. they are removing the Deadzone too? What the hell? Allright, this has gone way too far. One of these buffs at a time could have worked. Instant Wyvern would be just awesome for both Arenas and solo/group PvE. Major buff, and overwritable with Scorpid Sting it is just great for combined CC. Then, next little patch, add the Arcane Shot buff.

By then, the other classes would have calmed down about instant Wyvern. Then they could see the Arcane Shot buff alone, and wouldn't really have much to say against it. I can't really see a single reason for removing the deadzone by then, since those two should easily put us up as balanced in all PvP scenarios.

Lumping all three together in one patch? Why the hell are people surprised we are getting this epic whinefest on our hands? We are already a class with a very low bar for whines being thrown at us, and now we get three PvP buffs? What did you expect? The choir is singing, ladies and gentlemen, and the applause will come when Blizzard crumbles beneath the pressure and nerfs something else we actually needed.

Thanks alot whining Huntards, who by sheer volume of O-Boards whine have managed to force through these massive changes. It is you guys I am going to point at when it turns out we will suffer for it in the long run.

Just do what i do, say "If think they are so unstoppable, just go roll one and STFU" or "Yeah,we hunters are so overpowered! I mean me and a friend of mine just 2 manned Illidan!". Now, this does absolutely nothing, but anger them usually, but i'm in capitals for such a short time it doesn't matter to me, i just like throwing so bait at the QQers to make them thrash even more, eventually they might tire themselves out.

This anti-hunter BS about them being overpowered just makes me chuckle to myself most of the time. If they were to actually play one, they'd know we aren't just easy mode, even though this no dead zone crap is pretty stupid IMO.

If people are running around sayin we're EZ mode in PVP especially, they've never played a lock....

FYI I talked earlier about the things I see that I rate down, learn to format your messages, then you won't get rated down ;)

I don't think it was just whining Huntards on the O-boards. If all it took to get a nerf/buff was for enough people to whine that it was necessary, Warlocks would have taken a nerf bat pounding a long time ago.

More towards the topic of the thread, what did you expect? The Warrior on my arena team says Hunters are ez-mode. You've got people posting on Alla all the time saying they love to see Hunters staring back at them in Arena because it's like a free kill. I mean...ffs...I'm a Hunter and I love seeing Hunters on the opposite side of the arena because they're relatively squishy and frequently inept.

There are plenty of reasons why people who aren't Hunters would complain that Hunters are getting some PvP buffs:

1) Someone is getting significant buffs and it's not them.
2) They suck so bad they can't kill a Hunter.
3) They can easily kill a Hunter but they're about to lose one of their ez-mode options for climbing the ratings.
4) It's just something to ***** about, and ******** is cool.

Pay them no mind. If anyone other than Hunters should be happy about this, it's Warlocks. Justified ******** or not, at least it's taking the focus away from them for a little while.

Honestly, Blizzard takes player whining with a pretty big grain of salt. They are, after all, professional game designers. They have special departments dedicated to game balance, and there was obviously something that they saw that made them say "Okay, we're finally ready to reduce/remove the hunter dead zone, and add a few other little things."

I don't think that reducing the dead zone will give us any extra advantage over anything. Sure, Mages wont be able to take advantage of us by blinking into the dead zone, freezing us and killing us. But they can still freeze us, get into melee range (where we do less damage) and it's a bit more fair. What other classes really take advantage of our dead zone like mages? Druids? Well, we've all be begging for a druid nerf, but that's probably not going to happen.

Other players just know that we're a ranged class with mail armor and a meat shield of a pet. They don't usually have first-hand experience with trying to do anything in a PvP setting, or worse: close quarter instances.

So my personal opinion on the individual changes? I'm REALLY happy that they're reducing the dead zone, but I wasn't begging for it to happen. The Arcane Shot buff is really great for PvP- and I don't think that it's overpowered because most of those buffs will disappear when the enemy dies, anyway (and in a BG, it's inevitable). The Wyvern sting buff was needed, since there were an increasing amount of SV hunters skipping it.

AND OMG I LOVE THE CHANGE TO TRUESHOT AURA! WOO! Not needing to remember to recast it every 30 minutes?! YES!

And for the record... Hunters are not the most played character. This was taken from the website that skribs posted in another thread. The stats are found with an armory spider that collects information about all characters.

And here is a breakdown by class:
Level 70 |Total
Druid 114,025 (9.66%) |216,942 (8.99%)

Hunter 128,439 (10.88%) |285,480 (11.83%)

Mage 160,797 (13.62%) |309,933 (12.85%)

Paladin 107,913 (9.14%) |234,380 (9.72%)

Priest 143,454 (12.15%) |276,058 (11.44%)

Rogue 135,841 (11.51%) |290,603 (12.05%)

Shaman 89,115 (7.55%) |200,718 (8.32%)

Warlock 131,982 (11.18%) |269,883 (11.19%)

Warrior 169,014 (14.32%) |328,352 (13.61%)

There are more mages, priests, rogues and warriors than hunters... which baffles me, because it's always so hard to find a damn tank and healer!

That is interesting that the two classes people complain most about being OP and EZ-mode, hunters and warlocks, are two of the lesser-played classes. I'd also always assumed that warriors were down there with shamans as least-played. Maybe it's just my server.

That's because they all go Shadow Priest or Arms/ Fury.
