Help for a combat dagger raider that had good drops...Follow

#1 Oct 23 2007 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all, just a quick post to help me with my build, I know, sorry, but I am at a loss...
I loved twin daggers, still do, but 2 drops came my way tonight that made it impossible to justify keeping the ones I had.
The daggers I had were simple things (think Ceds Craver) but fast, one was 1.80 and the other 1.30.
Now my buils is combat dagger, for raids, built around backstabbing mainly on nasty boss type dudes.
The thing is, when equip my newly found weapons (Fool's Bane & The Night blade) I see a huge drop in My crit chance - from 27% to just under 17%.
Now my mace skills were 150 / 350 when I picked up the weapon, now around 260.
The speed of the mace is very slow (2.60) so maybe these things contribute?
Or is it purely to do with my build?
Does mixing and matching weapons like this damage what I can achieve, and if not, does anyone have any tips os a build that can up my crit, or is it not important?

TLDR version:
Basically, tips for a new raid build with mace in main hand and dagger in off hand.
Thanks guys, I look forward to your replies!

spec combat maces, not daggers... and level it to max

same as a swords build almost, and if you pvp at ALL get a mcae offhand too (blackout truncheon is a decent starter one)

i know you got a nice epix boe offhand, but mace spec is pretty nifty and for pvp you want as many procs as you can get

The feeling of getting procs off your maces is better than passionate sex.

(Needs to be confirmed.)

The drop in your crit chance also has to do with your build.
As you aren't using daggers you don't have that extra 5%, and seeing how your mace skill is so low that reduces your crit chance and damage significantly.

And as for a build, it all depends on what you do more...
Combat Swords for 5-mans and solo.
Combat Maces for PvP.
Combat Daggers for Raids (there are plenty of nice daggers you can get for, and from, Kara. (I should know, my warrior is using the emerald ripper as it's the best dps weapon i can get for DW))

Actually, Combat Swords is the best raid build at the moment due to itemization.

Anyway, you lost crit for two reasons.

1. Dagger Spec is 5% crit, so you lost 5% just by swapping weapon types.
2. Your mace skill is grossly underleveled. Under no circumstances should you show up to a raid with your weapon skill that far below the cap.

Also, The Night Blade is a piece of ****. I had one before it got nerfed, and it was godly. I still have it now, and it's junk. The Whispering Blade of Slaying is better.

Cool, thanks guys.
A couple of points to clarify.
I never ever PVP, well I did my first arenas last week, so yeah, think PVE.
I am going to swap back to daggers when I get my next good drop, but for now the damage per second increase is potentially too good to let go.
I will be maxing out my Mace skill asap.
My drop in crit seems to be from what I have been told is due to the nature of maces, and that's fine, I will just respec and go with what I have now until another dagger drops.
The Night Blade may or may not be junk (I will take your word for it) but, yeah, it's nicer than Ceds Carver :D
I guess I am just in a transitional phase, I am looking forward to trying a different play style, will be strange not backstabbing :)
Thanks so far guys!
