So I haven't played for many months and just started up again. I noticed our talent trees have gotten a little revamped and I am trying to decide where to put my points. I'm level 47 and was previously mostly Affliction specced.

I think I will continue with my Affliction Spec because I liked having Dark Pact and I just have a few question (or confirmations) about some of the newer unfamiliar talents (least I think they're new).

From reading up, it looks like Improved Drain Soul is worth going 2/2 now for the 10% threat reduction (so that takes some away from Suppression).

Is Soul Siphon worth taking up or would putting a point in Suppression be better? Right now I'm leaning a little bit towards Soul Siphon but reducing resists also sounds good to me (especially for fighting equal or stronger mobs).

My next question is for Empowered Corruption vs Shadow Embrace. I'm thinking Empowered Corruption is much better than Shadow Embrace even though Shadow Embrace might help with reduce damage when drain tanking.

So far I'm thinking of this for my Affliction Tree:

That leaves me with 7 more points. I'm thinking of putting all 7 into Destruction or should I take 5 into Demonic Embrace and then start up the Destruction tree?

Put 2 points in Soul Siphon, it's definitely worth it. Shadow Embrace is worth putting 1 point into, until the next patch. It adds an extra affliction effect, boosting Drain Life through Soul Siphon another 5%. After the patch though, it will no longer trigger other effects.

From there, the rest of the points are probably best spent filling out Affliction, and a few in Demo and Destro. You also have the option of going for Ruin, but you'd lose Dark Pact, so if you want Dark pact, go ahead and go all the way for UA. With Dark pact, you also can;t get to Soul Link, so getting to UA is probably the best choice in spending points.

After that Demonic Embrace is great, seeing as Sta=Health=Mana/Survivability and Spi is crap. Improved Imp is also nice, more Sta, since your proabably using him for a mana battery anyway. Imp SB will help in Instances on bosses as will Bane. Shadowburn is a great finisher.

Soul siphon is a must for drain tanking which you said you do, with 2 talent points in it it boosts the effect by 5% for every affliction target on the mob. 1 curse, corr, and SL and you get an extra 15% life drained. If you pop 1 point into shadow embrace it will make it 20% and if you decide to go UA it'll make it 25% (However with the next patch Soul Siphon and shadow embrace will no longer work together)

As for E. Corruption, this talent is based on your +dmg. If you have very little + damage it would be better to stick the points elsewhere for now until you get higher and can start stacking damage easier.

As for your spare 7 points, there are so many options, you could work on finishing out aff for instant howl of terror and another dot, head down demon to get all the buffs it supplies, or go down destruction for Imp SB and shadow burn. They are all good choices and have their benifits, just take a stab at whichever way you think looks funner and it will work out fine.
