i looked at the Faq, as well as theo's thoughts on talents, and he seems to dislike the raid viability of shamans as an elemental spec. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500015500001535005100000000000000000000005204301005000000000 is what i am thinking, sorry it is long but i cant get the link format to work, broken *** page :(

anyways, i dont think the elemental mastery is worth it, 3 min cooldown is a while to wait for a free crit, i realize in the 2.3 patch it will also give me the next 2 spells at 40%, but still, i think it it better used elsewhere, (the only place i can see to take it off would be reverberation) is this a viable spec for raiding and dungeons as a caster? it gives me the most +hit and +crit, damage cooldowns and mp5 i can getand cheapest costing spells and totems at a good range, i cant see any other way, unless i am way off.

I would suggest that you take a point off of unrelenting storm and put it on elemental mastery as it will give you more mp/5 than the one point in unrelenting storms would give you since you have a free spell and another reduced cost one and would also increase your dps.

Theo is wrong on that one (though he did write that before anyone had tried it, Elemental is EXTREMELY raid viable. The DPS and buffs are awesome.

Elemental Mastery is awesome, take it. For a raid build I would go for something more like this tbh.

But that build doesn't have Elemental Mastery. So are you saying it's an awesome levelling talent, but not so much for raiding? I'd have thought the mana savings would be great no matter what your playstyle. It's certainly one of my favourite talents since respeccing Elemental last night.

that build didn't link properly, trying again here.

There's a point left over, wherever you like really.

Storm Reach is another one that can really help.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why take an extra .2sec off shocks and 5% less mana from totems over an extra 2% crit?

I tell my elemental shammies to go 41/0/20, but then again they're guaranteed a spot with me in raids, so the extra mp5 and reduced totem cost is a non-issue there.

That builds fine too, though you have also saken a couple of points out of Unrelenting Storm which I just wouldn't do personally. Being partied with a SP like yourself would certainly help with the mana issues but there is no guarantee that you will always be grouped with one.

It's a matter of personal choice, the totem and shock talents are definitely optional, US is less optional imo.
