so heres my build
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Detheroc&n=Kraete
went down the fire tree mainly for pyro, for the record my dps rotation consists mainly of spamming arcane missels untill i get clearcasting then popping of a PoM pyroblast, i really dont find myself oom if i bring pots, time my gems well and when im out of options to regain mana or im on cooldown for pots at about 30%-40% mana left i switch my rotation to 3 arcane blasts then 2 missles then a fire blast . besides that i never use arcane blast and im always #1 on the damage meter by a fair chunk, ive gone as far as the prince in Kara and my guild is trying to down him, any cmments on wether u think this is good or bad? btw this is my gear
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Detheroc&n=Kraete
i can usually get around +1100 with raid buffs, right around 900-950 when i buff myself n stuff...

Well, I play a 49/12/0 build....

My rotation is more mana efficient, ABx2 AM, rinse and repeat. I find that spamming AM constantly runs me out of mana too quickly as I cannot count on having a shadow priest or mana tide in the group... if I do, then I hit AM on clearcasts and on MSD procs. I would never put fireblast in a DPS rotation on a boss as it it just too inefficient, I am not even sure I like the mana cost of the 3rd arcane blast. We must be closely geared as I get 1140 pretty easy raid buffed, 1240 with a totem. I'm around 1015 self-buffed.

I am a little confused as the thread is titled, "50-11-0 any thoughts?" while the build you posted is 33-22-0, which would imply that you have a level 64 character. I guess I will make comments on what I believe you meant to say. The heavy arcane build will require you to use arcane missiles as your main damage spell since arcane blast is easily interrupted and extremely inefficient as the ability stacks for raids and even 5-man dungeons due to mana cost. Firstly, if you plan to use arcane missiles as your main damage spell, then you have to get all points in improved and empowered arcane missiles. Also, you really need the full three points in arcane potency to take full advantage of the commitment you're already making to arcane. Just as a warning, this build is somewhat lacking in arena as it requires you to be stationary and your opponents can easily cancel your missile spam via numerous methods. Also, the build will leave you drinking often in battlegrounds and will usualy make you OOM in raid boss fights. So unless you have the insane mana pool/mana regeneration to support this in raids, the only real use for this build is dueling and 5-man dungeons. That said, it does have among the highest damage outputs available to a mage, though the disadvantages of obtaining such power usually turn most experienced mages away. I have posted the heavy arcane build that I would use below. I hope it helps, but I would strongly suggest using arcane as a supporting tree rather than your primary.

I don't really have many complaints about the build other than I would move the two points out of prismatic cloak. Also, most players don't have terribly high resistances, so your choice of arcane focus certainly makes the most sense in raid scenarios by effectively increasing your chance to hit. Elsewhere, though, I think you will find improved fire blast more useful as an alternative damage spell in PvP that can be used while moving. Also, for only a single point you can get slow. Though you may not like the ability, I think it is almost always better than a single point in arcane focus and certainly better than prismatic cloak. So, if you take two points out of prismatic cloak and two points out of arcane focus, then you can get slow and all three points in improved fire blast. You will still have three points (plenty really) in arcane focus for raid scenarios. Well, that's my advice...hope it helps.

thanks for your thougths and as a sidenote, i really dont go out of mana often, i brign some pots and the mana gems and im good, i usually just spam missles and PoM pyro when i hti clearcastign for the %crit bonus, i also have a 70 heavy fire mage with arcane support and this arcane mage kicks his ***, as long as i time my gems wisely and my pots i can stay ful of mana thru.. curator, prince, that mage guy in kara i forgot his name. like i said there, around 40% mana switching a rotation to 3 AB's then 3AM'3 is a charm, i got a tip tho to use

The build can work fairly well, although it may be worth it more once your guild progresses farther (much farther) to where you can receive 2 pieces of T5 is when arcane can really shine. Using arcane before that is very expensive with mana, unless you have a shadow priest + shaman backing you up for your mana returns.

I'm playing around with an arcane build myself. I'll have to try your ABx2 AM, as the AM spam certainly did run me OOM on Dr. Boom pretty quick.
