I noticed in the Rogue guide. That the spec had points in Ambush, What is the reason for this? Would you be using CS, Mut, as an opener instead of Ambush?

Just asking.

Well.. I wouldn't put points into there. In raids you'd open with garrote (and some pvps as well) while in pvp u'd usually go with cheapshot.. I guess the reason why he put points there was to nuke a low-hp target down as fast as possible, can't be sure thou :P

I assume you speak about the rogue guide.

There is indeed a Muti/sub build that has Improved Ambush. With all due respect to the author of the guide, I don't understand this build. It's only a lvl 66 build and not a lvl 70 build.

I personnally would never open with Ambush, especially when I could CS and Muti for a 5 Cps finisher. Just the usual CS-(CB)Muti-KS-Muti...

You're welcome for the feedback on the thread.

Humour is usually not something that I am lacking, but for some reason I fail to find it funny to be called a **** (no matter with what other noun/adjective it is linked). Maybe it's just the generational gap and my being more aware of what happened during 2nd WW that prevents me from finding it amusing. Just avoid this expression when refering to me on later occasions and our interactions will remain pleasant.

Usually I'm not one to apologize for a joke, however I also am not one to be a total @$$ so if you took offense to the joke, I do apologize. Not here to cause drama, only to make myself a better Rogue.

Improved ambush in a mutilate build is a really bad idea.

Take serrated blades instead if you feel you must go Muti/Sub. Cheapshot into Mutilate is almost always the better opener.

Honestly, you are far better off going Muti/combat.

Mutilate might have gone to the waste side, actually looking into Swords (even if I swore never to go swords) Just doing some research into that.

It's "way side," meaning the side of a highway.

Mutilate does fine in arena, but is lackluster in 25 mans.

Last night I popped my 3v3 cherry. I have to admit that I'm considering changing my 41/20 to a 41/0/20 for the stealth speed, sap, extra blind, and meaner ruptures.

Sap is the big one, it was truly a ***** to pull off, especially when I can see a stealthed rogue right in front of me but i keep getting "out-of-range" messages.

Where's the best information about Swords vs. Daggers? I'm not a subscriber, so I can't search the forums.

Alright here's some real information. The best information about daggers vs. swords...

For PvE, a combat dagger build theoretically has equal or higher DPS than swords, however the positioning requirement and itemization severely gimps it. In the end, Swords win.

For PvP, If you're taking the combat tree all the way down, Maces are a better choice than swords. That 6% chance to stun has more utility than an extra sword swing. Daggers perform well using a mutilate/combat build, but that effectiveness is limited in higher ranked arenas where the opposition has stacks of resilience nullifying your crits.

In all seriousness, I'll be PVPing far less than I'll be PVEing. Plans are actually to raid quite a bit. Obviously, I want to do as much Damage as I can. I've ran with Daggers from 1 to 62, though for a level I think I ran with a sword in the off hand. I'm use to stealth, CS, get behind target and hit with (Mutilate, Backstab, Ambush) I guess my big question is Mutilate vs. Combat Swords, which is better?

combat is better for pve. specially raids.

I always said that assasination was big crits and combo point gen with poison enchance but combat was energy efficiency and best sustained dps.

In pve you need best sustained dps. Now mutilate should do as good as combat but there are just so many factors that cause it to stray. Combat doesnt have as many hang ups.

I myself am a staunch 41/20 but i dont plan on going to the arena soon. I'd like to raid and instance. So unless things change for combat muts, it seems iam gonna be doing some ***-combat if i want my guild to rank me.

Combat swords is a great PvE build as long as you know what you need. It also doesn't fall apart too much in terms of PvP.

The stealth speed issue will be increased in 2.3.

Really all your giving up is the ability to sap easily. Serrated blades and opportunity just don't make up the extra DPS you get from precision and duel wield. Also, you'll be giving up improved sprint, one of our best abilities.

I know...but the temptation to get improved sap is just so strong...

...must resist...
