warrior/warrior or warrior/rogueFollow

#1 Oct 22 2007 at 10:58 AM Rating: Decent
my friend and i were thinking of starting new characters on an entirely new server. i am positive i will make a warrior, and he was debating between warrior or rogue. Which would be a better duo for lving and for arena when we hit lv 70? Also on horde illidan we have another friend who is playing and we were thinking of doing that, or we'd go to another server for alliance. It would be nice to play on horde for a change (been on alliance for a while) however looking at some racials and stuff, it seems that for warriors at least alliance is better. a free heal for draenei? to me that sounds indispensable as a warrior. or night elves, with a stealth. I can see it now, to stealthed night elf warriors can charge at at someone, which is usually impossible in arenas. however, horde is known for better pvp racials, and as i said id like to try out horde. which would be the better choice?

Best bet is Warrior + healer. Pally mostly. It'll cut your downtime a lot.

if restricted to warrior/warrior or warrior/rogue, imo warrior/rogue gives you more cc and possibly more damage output. it also gives you cc in arena (though your rogue will have to spec assassination and specialize in stunlocking) and more utility in pve with the rogue's stealth to finish some quests.

you have to decide your focus on pvp or pve before you roll alliance or horde. imo you should both roll gnomes, build up honor for the medallion of the alliance, and be unstoppable rolling plate and leather balls of death.

druid/warrior is a good, survivable combo. you don't have much cc, being limited to your fear/hammy and the druid's pounce/cyclone, but resto healers are great. they get a lot of healing through on HoT's, so if they get jumped you will still be getting heals, and when they do get jumped they can shapeshift to bear and take a beating while you retaliate. i rolled with a hybrid resto/feral druid, and despite his subpar spec (his words, not mine) we managed to go 6-4 in our second week ever of arena play.

however, for "best ever arena combo with a warrior", my vote goes to priest/warrior or pally/warrior.

Paladin/warrior is generally a very solid combo. A druid/warrior combo isn't very bad either. Just make sure your partner isn't in tree form. ;)

How would you feel about a warrior/Shadow Priest combo? I think that would be a pretty viable thing for PvP. I think I'm going to try it out and see how it works..any feedback would be great. But..remember. Be constructive with your feedback...why.

I don't know. In my experience, paladin/warrior combo is alot better.

When I used to arena, my paladin and I faced off against the same warrior/s-priest team multiple times. I could tell the warrior outgeared me, but we still managed to beat them every single time. His priest just wasn't healing, or healing enough. And so they failed hard.

i tried warrior / sp , it really did not work for me. the burst capability of a SP is pretty low and the swp's can be dispelled by the biggest threats in pvp.

If you're worried about racials, let me break it down for you:
Dwarfs get on-demand extra armor when they need it, but it's on CD.
Night Elves get 1% extra dodge, great for tanking.
In patch 2.3, humans will get 1% crit on swords and maces, so if you plan on using those you will fare pretty well as a human, especially in PvP.
Draenei get a free heal and give 1% hit to melee classes, however the heal isn't all that much (my warrior at level 39 has 2500 health, and his heal is 620 HoT every 3 minutes).
Gnomes have escape artist to break (some/all, idk I dont have a gnome) CC.

If you do want to do a warrior/warrior combination, one of you will be DPSing and the other tanking while you level. The problem is, you'll both be fighting over gear for the most part (since until OL most tank gear is DPS gear as well), and you have no healer.
With a rogue, chances are you'll have less gear issues (maybe weapons and capes, but not armor as well), and you'll synergy a bit in that he'll get some nice AP from you, and he'll be able to sap a guy for you. He can probably off-tank one add in world PvE pretty easily...
But, I WOULD recommend a healer. Want a lot of fun? Get an enhancement shaman or a feral druid or a paladin. As a druid, he'd get cat form which is a lot like a rogue in some respects (stealth, melee, energy, openers and combo points, etc), and he can off-tank if you need one. Then when fights are over, he pops out and pops some heals, and you're good to go. Oh yeah, and LotP is +5% crit.
With an enhancement shaman you got WF Totem and he can heal if you need it. If you get a ret pally, you can possibly end up with imp BoM and battle shout up on both of you, for a tremendous ammount of damage. And if you go 2H slam and he goes SoC and both have slow weapons, you can pump out an insane amount of damage.
If you want to do 3 at the same time, I would seriously recommend taking a warrior and 2 of paladin/shaman/druid (probably pally and shammy since you get some insane buffs) and just watch the procs do the damage for you.
