My Mage had just gotten the quest to retrieve the 2nd and 3rd Key frags. I was hoping to knock out a guild run but there wasn't anyone online at that point. A friend of mine who's main is a Mage was on and I asked him "Do you think our Invis would last long enough to reach the Key frag in SV?"
I received "Hmmm...don't know but that would be awesome if it did. Let's try it!"
Off we went to Steamvaults.
Now, I am a Deep Frost Spec and he's a raiding Fire spec.
We decide to try and take the first 2 double pulls, figuring we can beat feet if it's beyond us. Let me tell you, the combo of Frost and Fire is AWESOME!
We sheeped one and I kept the other chilly and we poured on the DPS. We were actually surprised as how easy the kills were. We even handled a 3 pull, 2 sheeps and burn em down one at a time.
As far as invising straight to the Frag, thats a No Go. you can't reach it on a single cast. Oh btw, the Bog lords can see invis also...that was attempt #2.
On the 3rd Attempt we hit gold! You can invis halfway to a very small safe spot located to the right of the tunnel, that leads to the 2nd and 3rd boss areas. As we sat there in our tiny safe spot just mere inches from max agro range we waited for our Invis CD to finish.
A simple recast and we were in the water safe as can be in front of the Key Fragment. we easily killed the spawn and hearthed happy with our Theft.
Lessons learned?
1) Fire & Ice Mage combos are really powerful
2) Why wait for a group? Invis FTW!
