To get maxium dps/survivability out of a duo of druid/priest (shadow spec, lvl 40, druid isnt that high yet) whats the best specs for both?

To maximize DPS, probably balance and shadow (since shadow can replenish the balance mana, and balance will give Mind Blast bigger crits).
To maximize survivability, probably holy or disc and feral.
For both? Shadow and feral will probably work.

Shadow/Balance would surely get the best synergy. You can both get out of form (Moonkin and Shadowform) to heal if needed, but with the DPS you should be able to tear stuff apart.
On the other hand, Feral/Shadow might work best. Sure, you don't benefit as much from the mana battery ability of the SP and he doesn't get your aura, but it's easier to take on elites or crowds of mobs with you tanking and the SP healing you, even if not specced for it.
I'd definitely go Feral/Shadow for the most part of leveling. Maybe Balance/Shadow later, but it's less appealing to me personally.

The shadow priest won't get the mana battery skill until level 50 so i'd defintley go with the feral combo at this stage. Being able to switch to bear & healer will mean you can take on almost anything.
I like skribs answer. I have a shadow priest on my 2 vs. 2 team and we DPS like mad. Never leveled with one, but I can only imagine that it would work just as well. Even considering survivalbility it would still appeal to me to go with balance/shadow (well at least at 50). Between you 2 and the treants an elite would go down in no time. Even if it did reach you between mind flay, ER, and fear the priest can always simply drop a shield and heal.
Ether way you go will be fine feral will be better for the times he isn't there and group quests will be easy as pie with an insta tank when you need to. but like I said ether will work....
