greetings fellow mages. i just recently ding 70 last nite. (/dance) well im not new to the game but this mage im playing is my 3rd toon that i played to 70. i have a 70 rogue (my first toon) i played him from helping my guild opened the AQ 40 gate, up to when my guild broke out in the middle of void reaver attempt. then after that i played my warrior get him to 70 while im not raiding with my rogue. raid with my warrior as a protection up unto mags. then with all my luck the guild im in broke out again. so i started from scratch new realm, new toon fresh start. 2 mo. later im a brand new 70 mage in the exodar server. now my guild is preatty casual at this point but then in the fast few weeks we've been talking with our allied guild about a merger, so we can start raiding. i just got a few question bout raiding as a mage. i knw that my gear right now is crap but im gonna work on it this week. i just want to knw the answer to this questions.

here's my toon link:

1. how much spell hit rating do i need?
2. spell penetration do i need that? how much is enough?
3. is my build ok as a fire mage. im only doin raids, farming, 5 mans heroics, not PVP.
4. i want to build a stamina set for tanking krosh the fire hand in grulls lair. can you guys give me a list of the items i need to look out.

i knw the question 4 is kinda very up far coz my guild is just about to start kara. but i wanted to be ready i want to show to my guild that im a dedicated player. i have my spellfire gloves & belt even before i hit 70. i have the key frags done for kara i just need to get a group for BM to finished my attunement. but i cant find a group when i was lvl 69 they said that im too low maybe this week i'll be able to get it done. well thanx alot in advance for the help. you guys have a wonderfull day.

1) How much spell hit: 164 (you don't need that to start, but that is your goal)
2) spell penetration: I have 0.
3) Build is fine
4) For your stam set, you can cruise the AH and look for "of stamina" stuff and put +stam enchants on it. Not too hard to do to get around 10K stam.

Have fun, welcome to the mage 70 club and... oh, did you know that when a guild breaks up, you can join a different one and continue on, you don't have to reroll?

;-)

Have fun, dude!

No.4 is a slightly different animal. going wild with of stamina is harmful. you need like 10k hp, 8k mana and 66 spell hit. I somehow lost too much mana when I use my tanking set. Need to tune it a little again i guess.

run your instances and complete your spellfire set. Though I played without it for a long while before I made it all in the last month or so. I must say having walked the hard road for so long, having the set made me a monster when dpsing. Its like you could keep pace with the other souped up cars when your own is not that souped up and when you finally get yours souped up you smoke your competition.

10K health and 8K mana is not so hard.... you could do this with the imbued netherweave stuff + some of your own. It should not stress you out too much, as all you need to do is some spell stealing, and fireball casting (or whatever nuke you are going to use as an aggro-keeper). I saw an arcane mage scorch the crap out of this guy to keep aggro and it worked just fine.

The regular netherweave stuff gives even better returns for +stamina. I personally just got all of the +stam items that I could find on the AH and sit around 12.5k hp, haven't wiped yet.

This is what I did as well. A guildie was having me make him some imbued netherweave and I looked at the stats from it and it looked pretty stam-packed, so it was fresh in my head. I never wore either imbued netherweave or netherweave, so I haven't studied it.

The *main* point is that it is not difficult to get the amount of stam needed to tank Krosh.

thank you guys so much, i really appreciate all the reply. im working on getting my tailoring up to 375. so i can make the final piece of my spellfire set. i browse the AH this morning & bought sta belt & pants. pants have have like +75 sta on it. and im getting the mats for the clefthoof leg armor patch. so now i gonna make the imbued netherweave set & see how it goes. thank's to all of you again.

I'd like to make a comment on your talent build, you seem to have improved fireblast instead of playing with fire. Other then that, it's fine.

Does this mean you use fireblast in your pve cast rotation though? Because if you do, please don't, it's just a plain bad idea, dps and dpm wise.

Also, I'd like to recommend the pvp silk bracers (and maybe even boots, necklace and shoulders) as easy to get upgrades that will last you for ages.
Takes about a day of av in the weekend to get the bracers and another item.
