so i just finished a BG where i noticed some strange behavior from an orc rogue.

this guy killed me A LOT. i don't pretend to be particularly good at PvP or be a full on twink. i have pretty good gear but in the neighborhood of a few hundred gold not a couple thousand. now baring gear we should be fairly even right? well here's where i got kinda annoyed. this guy would always be there. right behind me regardless of whether i was stealthed or not. he would always just appear behind me. he would even appear, sap me, then disappear. now i know he could be using flash powder but he would sometimes do it twice when there was no way the vanish timer was up yet. one time he came along, sapped me, vanished, attacked me again, then as i ran after him while engaged he just disappeared. no vanish animation. just that deal when you see someone's body running in place then it fades away but they are no where near. sort of lame but not the worst part.

the worst part was when actually fighting close range with him. he could literally run circles around me while we were fighting. i could barely turn in place as fast as he could run around me. i know that i had no movement debuff on and it wasn't sprint cause he did it all the time. longer than the duration of sprint.

i won't even get into how fast he could kill me from any angle. must have just been the difference in gear that gave him the ability to come up on me and kill me 4 attacks even with out starting out stealthed. just straight at me and boom, dead lol.

probably going to sound like a *****...i'm not really angry just curious what ya'll think. i'm hopping back in now see if i can get a few kills on him >;)

If this is in the level 50+ bracket, he was probably using Shadowstep.

Sap doesn't remove stealth.

hmm...

rated my post down to default...?

did i offend someone?

i was merely asking opinion. i even spell checked. although i'm not great with the shift keys so i don't capitalize much :P (perhaps a little lazy as well...)

guess the rog forums are a little touchy?

edit: LOL i hadn't even noticed your full name Demea of Doom

edit: i wish i remembered his full name. something to do with "glutton". i'd love to check his armory. great idea.

wow...

you sure served me(i went there. i said "served" deal). way to call me out. i think i'll go /wrists and cry.

oh wait, that was a little more sarcasm. my OP had a bit of that in it as well.

i was bored while waiting for my next BG round. i had just got owned by another rog. i even added the "4" in "h4x" to add to the sillyness of my post. i know he was better than me. i know i am extremely inexperienced at PvP. hell i've only been playing WOW for about 3 months. and i come from almost 4 years on FFXI where there just about no PvP. i have been to less than 20 BGs total. so yes, i suck at PvP. are you happy? did you get all excited realizing you knocked me down into my place with the dogs and noobs?

i really hope you are incorrect and all the ppl on this board do NOT give responses like that.

i was seriously curious about the idea of hacks though. i have heard of ppl using hacks and wondered what ppl thought. i can't blame anyone for their opinion but it seems a little more polite and easy to just give a little advice eh? i didn't try to insult anyone. i didn't tell you you suck. i'm sure you are a PvP god. great for you. i'm not.

the idea of using the mouse to turn quickly is very interesting. i am familiar with hunter technique for firing arrows behind you while running but have not used it that way on rog. i actually find my fingers very awkward on rog while trying to PvP. like i need 3 hands or something. i can solo/quest/grind very effectively but get all clumsy in PvP. even so, in my defense, i can score top 5 on list at the end of BGs almost every round. i don't know if that's just because it's easy to with rog but give me a break. i can do ok some times.

gg i wish you could have just given me some advice instead of the typical elitist routine. even after your post i'd be happy to listen. monkey does have the ability to learn. i dare ya to give me some advice with out being so negative. "you suck" is too fricking easy of a response. calling me a noob is like telling a **** it smells.

thanks for ALL the responses

....man my posts always get so long winded...<sigh>

btw: i did rate you up like your sig instructs baveaux. your post, although abrasive, did have some tips in it. i will try to become more skilled at using the mouse to move and tab to target. i have been mostly using WASD to move then switching to the direction keys when in close combat so i can free up my left hand for hot keys. i actually do ok this way. it might have come across like i just stand still and turn in circles but i assure you that is not the case.

That was a thoughtful enough post which utilized excellent articulation and logical conjecture. If I was involved in the flaming of this thread (I honestly don't remember, I went on a flame spree this weekend while drinking), I apologize and offer the following advice.

PvP is a ***** if you are new. I did arena one week, and it was such a miserable experience I have not been back. I have not had extensive experience with battlegrounds, so I do not know if they are as disheartening. Have faith though, it always gets better.

The boards had an onslaught of complete noob posts over the weekend, and some of us are on edge.

As for hacking, I don't believe that it would be easy, let alone possible in WOW. he very way that the game is hosted on secure servers that are near constantly updated would make it a true challenge.

Apologies again.

Edit: Rate up for saying served. Hey, you're a scholar now.

hmm well that happened before too it seemed like person was hacking but I figured was me thinking silly, in like 30-39 bracket.because less then 10~20sec after BG started in WSG my side(horde) had grabbed flag and looked like he/she was glitching across the field runnning extremely fast and capped in less then a min I would guess,I didnt complain or anything just kept going on my way was fast seals..also to OP I played ff fora long time quit few months ago and started with this game <3 pvp ^-^;

as far as hacking... I would say improbable, not impossible. Not nessacarily hacking but utilizing some exploit that programmers missed. I have had a pally in BG sit down and eat bubbled when he was paired with a rogue. A ticket was submitted but I don't know what happened with it. He also was able to swap gear (which is no longer permitted in arena)

boots buff, sprint pots, prep sprint, engineering rocket boots come to mind. I myself can cap the flag fast enough to have the ally yelling gibberish at me.

There is (at least was) a glitch in Eye of Storm where mages could blink through the starting barrier & go & cap both a tower and then grab the flag & cap that before the game had even begun. I seem to recall some people being able to do this on very rare occasions in AB too. As for WSG I can't say I've ever seen anything that bad. Keep in mind that there is the speed buff right outside the tunnel & as Hatebrood says, multiple ways to get places very fast.

Yeah I remember the blink through the bubble trick. It actually took two "fixes" before it was actually fixed. I went up against a premade before the fix where ally had 3 nodes when the game started.

Try unbinding your keys. Lack of options then. There was a very well written post about anti-keyboard turning.

*edit* I'm not premium so I had to just go page to page to find em-

Thats the only one I saw in about 20 pages, maybe a premium member can help him out.

No, I'm no pvp god. Yes, I'm in a ****** mood.

I wouldn't have attacked you if you simply said that you were having troubles and needed advice. I do however attack people who automatically think someone was hacking because they can't win them and don't know how to play.

To me, you did. Especially when you started crying about being rated down. I remember a time when people used to get rated to sub-default for that, while you get rated up to scholar. Coherent posts or not, you'd get no rate up from me for crying.

As for the mouse turning, practice by jumping and doing a perfect 180 in the air with your mouse and running the other way. It's easiest on a bridge or road to get your bearings right the first time. After a while, you'll learn how much you need to move the mouse for the 180, and can perform the same thing without jumping. Also, quest without letting go of your mouse. Just use your left hand to hit your hotkeys.

Not the only way, either.

For WSG...

Pretty sure you can't pull this one off anymore though.
