hi, i need helpFollow

#1 Oct 21 2007 at 8:11 AM Rating: Decent
well thanks to whoever helped me on my last thread. basically ive just downloaded the original wow, now for burning crusade and patches. it would be helpful if you guys let me know on times for a dial up connection but thats not my main reason for posting.

anyway firstly id like to know about horde and alliance. i remember that it used to be alot easier to buy lower lvl hunter items on alliance is that still so? (i know it depends on server but in my experiencemost servers are alike, with only a few different). also what about bg's? horde still dominating that?

also what about pets ill be lookig for one tokeep good aggro in either dun morogh or the blood elf starting area. i usually use bears but i figured as i was asking a question anyway i might aswell ask what you guys think.

finally, professions. i always take skinning. and when i need money i skin alot and i mean alot so i dont mind buying ingredients. that being said any suggestions on second profession? i sometimes take mining sometimes lw but both i got bored of. i may just take mining again but that means an add on and as im dial up my connection isnt great as it is. but its a fairly fast dial up so inormally am fine with hunter. i was thinking maybe engineering but without mining that would prob be a pain. thanks in advance for responding.

All of these questions are answered in the "Every Question Answered Here" thread. Imagine that.

With the possible exception of the dial-up download times, of which I have no idea.

really? im sure i checked there. the pet one i know is in there but i was asking questions anyway so i included it. i couldnt find the answer to my bg question there or dial up times. with professions i am asking opinions because although that thread mentions gethering and lw im bored of them im kind of looking for a fun alternative but yea maybe ill just go mining/skinning. however, thanks for your post.

I like boars. Some people like cats. Some prefer ravagers. Even others would like an owl or carrion bird at their side. In other words, pick a pet you like. The only thing I would say about bears is that while they have good health, they don't do much damage and cannot learn dash/charge/dive so that puts them at a disadvantage.

The rest of your questions concerning gear and battlegrounds and the like are so server dependent and level bracket dependent for the BGs that no one can really answer them. Pick a race you think you can stare at for 70 levels and start leveling.

If you want to make money, pick gathering professions. If you want to be less rich but craft stuff for yourself pick a crafting one. Really, what more do you want people to say. We all have our own opinions of what is best and what we enjoy doing so why not just go with what you think would be fun and beneficial.

Advice: People are always happy to help someone who writes a well thought out and well written post that doesn't ask the same questions people have asked a million times. Don't fall into the trap and get nuked into oblivion before you even start :)

thank you, i tried writing well and asking what i couldn't find in the guide but maybe i failed but still you just answered them. i was thinking boar tbh. yea i know about the character i was just wondering about pets. i mainly play dwarf or be anyway. also the bg thing is because when i played on nearly every server horde always won. (wsg 10-19). i dunno maybe now it is more server dependant? sorry just havent played in a while. besides these questions i could easily find out in game the only real reason im asking is because im bored waiting to download. (dling original patches atm because blizz wont let me log in to acc management to dl bc.) thanks again for being helpsful.

The reason your server matters is because of things called Battlegroups. Each server is a member of a battlegroup along with a few others servers, not sure how many. So, perhaps some battlegroups have a more active horde population that plays the battlegrounds so may win more than alliance, and on other battlegroups it could be the opposite. I'm sure most are fairly balanced. At least mine seems that way. Horde did used to win WSG and AB all the time, but alliance has stepped it up and it's about 50-50 now depending on the time of day.

Boar all the way. Best starting pet ever.

They eat everything. They charge - only pet with land speed until lvl 32! This is really significant, btw. Their charge "immobilizes" briefly, which is good for pvp. They gore and bite. They are great tanks. They hold agro fine to very well (on charges they hold agro great).

Sometimes you have to turn off gore, if it uses up too much focus (til you get the bm talent to gen extra focus - then you don't have to worry much). You may wanna not have charge on auto when in instances (piggie can charge stuff you don't want it to charge if left on).

There are great pigs in Dun Morogh. In Blood Elf lands - travel to UC - take zep to Orgrimar - at lvl 10 - go out into durotar and get a piggie. Very easy. Easy pie. Pork pie. Pork pie hats ftw!

OINK!!!!

lol thanks for that...im gonna get myself a pro pie...i mean pet pig in about 5 or so hours when all my patches and bc should be downloaded.

#10 Oct 22 2007 at 6:26 AM Rating: Decent
well its not dial up but effectively they are the same. its a wireless connect connecting to a signal far away its the only internet i can have cause my parents got annoyed when they couldnt get phone calls and this one doesnt plug into the phone socket.

Also check with your ISP, some have a setting on their servers that will disconnect you if you are on for 3 hours or more downloading. The system will see it as a idle session and kill it. This I know because I work for a internet provider and the dialup service is like that. But customers that have a issue with that can call in and they will be removed from that sweep every 3 or so hours.

I am watching the rest of you, evaluating the rapid descent of a Hunter forum without my scathing prose. These guys are now yours, until I think the corruption is reaching dangerous levels.

Dangerous as in we are not doing it enough, or dangerous as in we are doing it too much?

Things like this need to be explained!

Ah, I see what the OP is talking about so far as saying dial up.

My parents are nearly 60 and when my father took early retirement last year they bought a house out in the boondocks. One engine fire house type of city. Reguardless, when it came to using interntet out there they had few options. They couldn't use cable, seeing as how the cable company didn't go out that far. They could either use dial up (dad said not only no but hell no) or an only slightly better than that satalite connection (which they use as well for cable) that is rather expensive and has major drawbacks. Besides the snails pace, it boots itself back up every 10 hours or so at what they call "down hours". Not to mention that if it storms you TV and comp is knocked off.

So when OP says only slightly better or "effectively the same", I know what he means. Thank gawd I do not live with my folks.

Question to OP... why would mining as a profession mean you'd need an add on? I can see the benifits to them, but I work well enough without them (so far as a mining add on goes) and I'm skinning and mining. I can tell you in all honestly that if you find a nice spot clustered with nodes I doubt you'll forget where it is.

So far as buying low level hunter items... ummm why? You'll be getting rid of them too quickly to worry about that all the time. Why spend money on junk that will be useless to you in a few levels?
#19 Oct 22 2007 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
by buying items i meant just some cheap agi+ and maybe a good gun every few lvls just for that extra bit you know?. also i hear people saying i should have been umped on lol sorry if i did something wrong but i actually did check the thread and the pets question was jst opinion based really. also i had no idea about bg over servers i dunno if i just didn't know or missed an update but again that wasn't in the thread. also professions was again asking opinions. i mean come on guys were suppose to be helping each other. ok so there is a thread saying some stuff about hunters. but it doesn't give you other peoples opinions its one guys opinions mainly. i like to get a variety or opinions before i choose to do something its just the way i am. sorry if you guys dont like it but that wont stop me. anyway thanks to everyone actually answering and helping. you have helped me loads im now playing and have skinning and lw i decided to take it anyway even though im bored of it.

Mostly with professions you want to look at the end rewards. For instance, if you look at my Armory link, alot of my stuff can be made with LW, or even more specific, Dragonscale Leatherworking.

I can't even imagine. I don't even like to play on wireless, so dial-up would be bad.

The reason we didn't jump on him was because he had a well written post, seemed fairly intelligent, and wasn't really asking stupid questions. Plus, he apologized and explained himself when lacey pointed him towards the sticky. We don't jump on everyone here! Aside from obvious cases, you should always wait for the second post.
