Just a thoughtFollow

Im rather new to paladin but just wanted to ask if anyone has tried a build like this. Im rather new so ill understand if its retarded and you guys say so. Seems to me it would be ok. Got Sanc aura for improved damage on holy shock and SotC procs. Could use a big 2hander with lots of +spell damage gear/int stam and str. Almost uninteruptable heals. Anyways just a thought. If anyone has kinda went this way let me know how it went please. Take care all and thanks for any replies.

Also i have no idea how to link a build to post so i will just write them out.
Sorry for being a noob :(

The kind of build you're thinking of is the shockadin. Typically, they would gather *lots* of spell damage, and use a very fast 1h w/ shield.

yeah I saw a sample shockadin build on the sticky, it didnt really look like mine. I guess with my build I was thinking of burst dps mixing spell and melee damage along with decent heals to keep u up.

The build list for shockadin in the sticky is 51holy 10 ret. No SotC either.

Why would you want burst dps? You making a paladin for pure pvp? If you are, there are probably better choices than trying to go shockadin.

Well i guess I dont like the Idea of end game just healing, both pve and pvp. I like 2handers and it just seemed with Sotc and holy shock witht he right gear I could dish it out a bit. Im sure if it was good it would be a build somebody is using. It was just an idea, I guess ill just try it one day when i reach 70 and respec if it sucks to a cookie cutter... Blah. 3 trees and somebody is posting like 95% of paladins heal at end game. Seems a bit to uniform to me.

95%? No, more like 80-85%, close though. Don't believe me? Check my post out about halfway down this thread:

Honestly if you wanted to wield a big two handed something and beat things into a pulp, then honestly warrior or shaman is going to be much more your style than paladin. If you're determined to stay paladin, more power to you, but again if you want to run around beating things with a 2h, then Ret is easily the better choice then trying to do it as a shockadin.

Now if you don't believe me, go ahead and try your spec out, but I don't think it will live up to what you imagine it to be. Everyone has a picture of paladin being this gigantic guy in plate thundering around with a huge mace that cracks people's heads open with holy energy shooting everywhere. Blizzard killed that paladin long, long ago. Chances are they won't resurrect it either. I'm just trying to save you lots of grief and disappointment.

The problem with what you are trying to do is that you are spreading yourself to thin.

You want to include Holy Shock, to make that any kind of a threat in PvP you need to stack a TON of spell damage.

You want to include Seal of Command, to make that any kind of a threat in PvP you need to stack a TON of Melee DPS/Crit.

It's not possible to stack an acceptable amount of both, and any attempt to will just render your Paladin into a big laughing joke.

Now Crusader Strike in the ret tree should be the talent you want. With Seal of Command, it also requires a ton of melee dps/crit. Don't even worry about the 40% spell damage thing.
