Amplify Magic and Dampen Magic

What is the difference of the two?
When should I use the 2 of them?

I'm New at this so please reply back in what you call Newbie Talk.

well iam not too sure but from common sense and vocab knowledge i'd say

amplify increases the amount of magic effect on a target [enemy or ally]

meaning they'll get healed for more and take more damage from hits [wether ally or enemy]

And dampen means the opposite.

Dampen Magic: Use when number of enemy spells hitting you is going to far exceed the number of heals you get.

Amplify Magic: Use when the number of heals you're gonna get far exceeds the number of enemy spells are going to hit you.

Soloing: Dampen magic up always.

Thanks for your fast replies.

So I will amplify say against a Raptor and use Dampen when I'm against magic use'n mobs.

I was getting conflicting advice in the game.

Thanks again.

Only bother using Amplify against said raptor if you have a healer with you.

You will almost never use Amplify Magic when soloing.
Keeping Dampen Magic on when soloing is never a bad idea.

If you're going to do SM Armory or another melee-heavy instance, putting Amplify Magic on the tank may not be a bad idea.
