Warrior leveling helpFollow

#1 Oct 19 2007 at 3:54 PM Rating: Decent
I plan to be leveling with either a mage or a priest in mediocre gear, so I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if it will be easier, harder, or the same as leveling alone with great gear.
And which class will be easier to level with, priest or mage.
Wow, I want a lot of questions, but just one more. What help will I need the most of, health, stamina, etc..

Thanks in advance.

stack, damage (str), crit (agi), and HP (Sta). If you have a choice, priest > mage for team grinding. The only time you'll have to stop is if you run across some random elite (from quests or rare spawns), and your priest had to OOM to heal you through it. Shadow priests are fast leveling too, and if they have a warrior to tank/dps with it makes it really easy.

As for spec, I'd suggest fury or arms, but not to split it, go all out one or the other (always get cruelty 5/5). and use a 2h.

Early levels you probably want to focus on str and stam for the most part.

After you get high enough and gear becomes more available: str, stam, agi, crit, hit (not labeled in any particular order)

For leveling you'll probably want to use a 2h weapon until you are able to get a good amount of +hit gear, then you can dual wield or stick with 2h. Once you get to higher levels, make sure you have 1h + shield with you in case you need to tank something seriously.

Most likely it will be harder to solo level than to pair up with someone else. Warriors don't have good "Oh ****" abilities, like rogues vanish or hunters freeze traps and let my pet take the beating while I run away. Warriors will pretty much, put on a shield + hamstring + run away (and if you're lucky + intercept a rabbit or frog to gain distance quickly)

Personally I would rather party with a Priest over a Mage. Priest can deal damage and also heal you, unlike a mage who can only do dmg (of course they have slows, freeze enemy, polymorph, etc). When you have low hp you wont get some from a mage.

For leveling, like devioususer said, go Fury or Arms. Don't go protect even though you are going to tank with your partner. If you are taking too much damage just put on a 1h and shield and go into defensive stance. You'll be leveling too slowly (compared to Fury and Arms) in protection. I prefer to level with Fury; due to the Cruelty, Imp. Slam, Flurry, Imp. Whirlwind, and Bloodthirst.

OK, this has got to be getting annoying, but now she wants to be a shaman: What's better, shaman or priest?

early level shamans are a bit imba imo (lol). you get to spell dps, put out a bit of melee dps, equip a shield and take a bit of a beating, and what's more you can heal (and rez at level 14). i don't know much about shamans but i put my first 4 talent points in imp. healing wave, though she could probably put them elsewhere.

leveling with a shaman will give you a bit more versatility as they can dps a bit and buff you in ways other than just stam.

Shaman will work well with warrior too. Shaman has more defense and can wear a shield when needed. They can heal when needed and deal damage.

Also you'll get some nice buffs such as: Strength of Earth, Windfury, Stoneskin, and other goodies.

For leveling both will be fine, priest/shaman, you'll benefit from either one.

Actually, we have several "oh sh*t" abilities. Shield wall? Use intimidating shout and bandage. Retaliation helps solo difficult elite mobs. Last Stand, if you're talented for it. And dont forget piercing shout. Its saved my butt many times. Run away and keep using piercing shout till the mobs reset/evade back to their paths.

Oh yea thats right I forgot about Intimidating Shout. Thanks for pointing that out greenroom.

I believe you mean Piercing Howl. If you're slowed or facing a ranged enemy then it might be a little bit more difficult to run away with this, although it does come in handy given the right situations.

Shield Wall is a nice ability too. I'm not too sure on this but doesn't shield wall only work on enemies you are facing? If this is true then running away with shield wall wont help much. Of course you can face them use shield wall and hope to out last them if this is the case. I believe Retaliation is the same. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Last Stand is a great ability to have. But because the OP is still or going to be in the leveling stage, I doubt he'll have it until roughly level 60. Of course, once he/she hits there and gets the ability then it's a life saver for sure.

Shield wall is direction-independent. Retaliation only counter-attacks melee hits from the front, yes.

And yes, I meant piercing howl lol.
