Well Dilbrt keeps putting out that there are 80% healadins, 15% tankadins, and 5% retadins, this made me wonder what the percentages are in our little group here.

What Paladin type are you? (must be level 70)
Healadin:20 (33.9%)
Tankadin:32 (54.2%)
Retadin:3 (5.1%)
Shockadin:4 (6.8%)
Total:59

You can only choose one, so choose your primary roll. I included shockadin for people who do BGs.

Yeah probably, just offhand I can think of me, maul, and I dunno if Tommy considers himself prot yet. I think almost everyone else is a holy at 70. We get a lot of people asking about prot, but not many come back as regulars or stay prot.

i am not lvl 70 yet but i plan on it when i hit 70. Since i only usually run with friends i am the tank of the group so i will be stayin that way

Jack, what about me? I've never been anything else but a Tankadin.

I'm a holy paladin all the way. I confirmed this when I had to DPS the headless horseman today and reaffirmed my hatred of melee dpsing.

I don't know how accurate this poll will be. Very few healadins seek help on forums because healing is fairly straight forward. Tanking requires more thought, a whole mess of different stats (and equations to combine those stats) and so you see a lot more tankadins seeking help than holy. Fine you want me to go dig up where I got my numbers?

http://okoloth.blogspot.com/

I swear there was more prot and less ret last time I checked, but the page says it is updating constantly, so...

Talent Specs
Holy 83.4%
Protection 7.18%
Retribution 9.41%

Don't worry Dil, I wasn't combatting your numbers, I know the difference between a Population and a group, I was just curious.

And ramera, sorry I don't remember everyone who posts on here.

No worries. I like posting here because we may not always get along, but I think that can make some great idea mashing. Anyway, back to the PoJ topic.

No its perfectly fine, I was completely pulling those numbers in other posts out of my rear, because I couldn't remember the exact numbers. I tend to do a lot of research for my class (bi-product of having to do research for end-game raiding) so half the time I don't remember what numbers I saw where.

Looks like my hypothesis was right though, more tankadins need the support of forums to play their class than holy.

Yeah, I would agree with that. Healing is pretty clear cut and dry. Tanking on the other hand has several different strats, procedures, and multiple itemizations.

I'm holy at the moment, and I have no plans to change that because my guild needs healers and if I do say so myself, I'm pretty good at it.

I am trying to build up a tanking set though, because sometimes I miss tanking. Not raid tanking or anything (we have a prot pally among our tanks) but maybe some 5-mans just for fun. So maybe you'll see me asking for advice in future, although probably not much. I haven't tanked seriously since Azeroth, but none of the normal instances are brain surgery. If they were, warriors wouldn't be able to tank them :P

I picked tank, I tank about 60-70% of the time even in ret spec when the situation calls for it

next patch, that might go down to 50-60%

in 2v2 and 3v3, im the healer regardless of spec

I used to be a tankadin from about level 40 until 70 when I promptly switched to Holy and still am to this day. I really enjoy healing and tanking, but I regret never trying out a full Ret build. It sure looks like it would be fun.

Just added 1 to Shockadin /smile

Must say for now I LOVE this spec when doing arena with my icemage brother. The holy shock and higher SoR judgement damage really help him frontload his damage. While he was able to kill one off very very quickly by himself (still no clue how he does that btw) when I was still a prot healing him, it seems a walk in the park right now with my frontloaded 2800-2900 extra damage.

After the initial burst I am just a healer with less +healing and a 15s 1K shock to add when needed. So far won about 80-90%! (of which about 90% due to my freaky brother's BG abilities, mind you).

Don't take this badly in any way, but that doesn't mean squat as long as you don't also indicate your current rating and how many games your duo has fought.

Well, I’m currently Prot but I’m going Holy soon. I just want to get a couple more runs in before I make the switch..

Prot for life baby.

There is something to be said about running a full clear Shatered Halls in 52 minutes with never using CC or any deaths. I've never heard of any other tank job doing that. (Yes i realise every job has it's strengths and weaknesses but prot pally > 5 mans)

As i am waiting to finish up my gear grind before getting into kara, need belt, libram and trinket (still amazingly pissed that i lost the Figurine of the Colossus to a jack *** arms war and it hasnt dropped again in the 10 runs since...), I am pretty excited to see how i can do.

But back to the initial question, i will always be a prot pally.

Now what I want to know is, out of all those prot pallies how many are prot pallies and RAIDING. Not kara, but 25 mans.
