Same Speed MH/OH?Follow

I've seen this idea thrown around pretty much forever but haven't heard of anyone implementing it in practice. Anyone tried using same speed MH and OH for Fury DPS?

The theory is that, with weaps of the same speed, you get 4 swings per Flurry proc instead of 3, giving you quite a bit higher chance to chain Flurries and a bit more DPS if you don't get another proc. It'll also be worth a little bit more dps if you go slow/slow in 2.3 from the WW change (only 5-10 dps by most estimates but worth noting). The obvious downsides are lack of weapon selection (only 3 OHable 2.7 speeds, things open up a little bit more at 2.6 speed with Vindi Brand and Glad weaps) and spiky rage gen (I suspect if I tried this I would gem for hit more to mitigate this a little).

Anyway, has anyone actually tried this and have some experience to share?

It works. It didn't _used_ to work because Windfury procs off instant attacks would desynch your weapons.

It's decent ut nothing to really write home about; a neat effect if you can get it, but I'd definitely not pass up a DPS upgrade to make it work and I still prefer a fast(er) offhand.

I would think more people would be open to this idea, simply because whirlwind hits with BOTH weapons now, so slower weapons=harder hitting whirlwind. I'd still prefer the fast offhand during execute spam, for more consistent rage, although I used to dual wield Grand Marshal's Axes, and those are 2.9 (!!!) speed.

I wouldn't think you'd be gimping much of anything with two slow weapons. It didn't treat me too bad; I used lobotomizer before in the OH and the GM axe was ALOT spikier in rage generation, but it works.

Eh, I used to dual wield twin Misplaced Servo Arms and there are some definite disadvantages to the slow/slow combo. The spiky Rage generation gets very old after a while, for one.

I just watched one of my old Fraps recorded video of me killing epic silithus bugs for rep whilst using dual handaxes. I remembered how much it sucked to have 7 rage one second, then 38 2 seconds later, missing the CDs on bloodthirst and whirlwind.

Its all coming back to meeee. Gimme a fast OH.

Sounds like someone needs more hit :P.

there's a nice discussion going on about this in another forum post that I'm too lazy to link to (at work ;))

With slower OH's I tended to sit on more rage, and spam HS/cleave less often. So I can cycle BT and WW every CD.

Thanks for the thoughts. Sounds like something I'll just have to try out for mahself.
