question about tamingFollow

#1 Oct 19 2007 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
I am asking about sian-rotam the elite white cat in winterspring. I went thru a search on him and found that all posts concerning him where about asking the horde to come and summon him. I went there last nite and he/nor his female partner shy was around.

Is this a quest on the horde side to get them to appear? I would really like to take a shot on getting this cat.

Thank you in advance for any help.

I just tamed this lion a few days ago, and yes they have to be spawned by a horde character on the quests. The problem is, the questline is level 60, and the reward is less than earth-shaking, so most horde don't bother. If you want to sit and wait for one to come along, you will be waiting for quite a long time.

What I eventually did was make a horde alt, run to one of their major cities, and ask for help. I got a lot of "/w gtfo ally scum," but then those usually /ignore you, so you don't have to listen to them for very long. If you explain that you want to tame the lion, but felt bad about just stealing out from under someone's nose, and therefor wanted to come ask nicely, it might help. Also, offer to tip through a neutral AH exchange, although from what I've seen unless it's a stupidly huge amount of gold, you're only going to get someone to help who just likes to be nice to people. I ended up tipping the guy who helped me 40g - partly because he really went out of his way for me, and partly because he was willing to do it for free.

There's an entire questline before they can summon the cats, so do the research and be ready to help them with the other elites they have to kill. When you do get to the Shy/Sian-Rotam part, you have to kill lots of the normal cats to get the meat to summon Shy. When you have it, set a freezing trap behind the alter and a little to the left (facing the cave). Don't dps Shy unless you're sure you can avoid pulling aggro. She fears, and if you end up running around helpless, you'll lose your taming window. As soon as Sian spawns and gets trapped, lay a new trap at your feet, and start taming him. The old trap and new trap should keep him frozen until you've finished taming.

Just in case your friend hasn't finished off Shy by then, feel free to throw out a little dps to help them out.

And much luck to you, I love my new white lion, he is beautiful.

You can't make a Horde alt on the same account if you are on a PvP server, like most players. What you can do, is contact Horde on the Official Server forums, or through irc. Most servers have an IRC channel on Quakenet.

Yeah did one, and got some info. Actually I did one before posting here I just wanted to throw the question out there and get/see other people's experience with it.

I don't think you can make a Horde alt on PvE servers either. Or at least I could not the last time I tried, which was about 8 months ago.

You can. You can't mail stuff to other-faction alts, or buy each other's auctions, but it's easy enough to get a guildmate to help out if you need to transfer gold :)
