Dealing with InterceptFollow

I recently rolled onto a PVP server(Wildhammer), and have been sharpening my skills in BGs and in the field. I feel comfortable fighting most classes, with the exception of the Warrior. The problem being their Intercept. I can nullify their Charge by putting them into combat status with the first shot, but Intercept is still available to them. In those three seconds of stun, they just do horrendous amounts of damage, and thrown in Hamstring to make Wing Clip less useful.

I'm a Tauren, so I figure my best move after or before Intercept is to War Stomp to buy time, then throw a Freeze Trap to patch myself back up and get out of range. At low-levels, however, Freeze Trap only works for 6 or so seconds, so it's not even time to use a bandage and get out of range. Not even time to bandage, really.

I've Freeze Trapped Warriors before during BGs, but you usually get someone else attacking him to break the trap, and you die at this point, or he gets backup. I'm racking my brain now, trying to figure out alternate methods of dealing with Warriors and their Intercept ability.

Any particular ideas, or advice from people who've fought Warriors more often?

Edit: I should mention i'm a 31 BM Hunter, currently. Working to WSG 39 and Wrath.

* 1st advice: PvP Trinket. Quite simply the best investment you will ever do in PvP.

* Advice B: AB Boots reward. It isn't much, but the runspeed will help you ever so slightly in gaining/regaining range on other classes.

* 3rd advice: ?????

* Prophet Advice: If you can, make sure you put down the Freezing/Frost Trap before he Intercepts. If you are positioned correctly, you might be able to stop him before he manages to Hamstring you.

* Death and Ressurection advice: Make sure Aspect of the Monkey is up before he gains melee range on you. This could result in a missed/dodged/parried Hamstring, and allow you to get back to range.

* Renessance/Death of God advice: Don't even allow him to get within Intercept Range. Hard to pull off, but with the right preparation and forethought, you might pull off staying just outside of intercept range while still being within shot range. Not easy to do, but it happens once in a while.

* New Age/Occult theory advice: Don't fight Warriors. They are one of our true Anticlasses anyway, and isn't supposed to go down easy. Choose targets fitting your playstyle and specc/gear.

* Modern Day Atheist Supremacy advice: Pray. Pray to whatever God you feel comfortable with. Seriously, it can't hurt. Unless you pray to me, of course. The only thing my followers gain is the refuge of insanity once the Creatures of Madness start devouring the world.

Get out of the BGs and level. A 39 is going to decimate you, you are a free KB as far as they are concerned. Get up to 36+ and then go back.

And, speaking as a warrior, I have an easy time against hunters. The thing is, you dont want your trap to hold for too long, otherwise they will just intercept you again. You gotta drop the trap BEFORE you shoot, so that they hit it before they can pummel you with hamstring and slam.

EDIT: Dang North, beat me to most of the points.

If you're an engineer, throw a bomb for the stun effect. That'll require some prescience also as that requires a second to accomplish.

Pretty much the same advie in the Feral Druid thread can be used here, cept you don't have to worry about heals and Mana.

Try this on for size:

Pick a humanoid mob, clear all around him to give you plenty of playing room.

Send your pet in WITHOUT GROWL

Stay at the farthest range possible and strafe kite his *** till he is dead.

Now, the only way you will know were your max range is, is if you intentionalll keep going out of range, then stepping slightly in until you can shoot, do this a few times and you will get a feel for were your range is. Especially if you have Hawkeye, you can stay waaaay away from him :)

Edited to add: Skribs... WHO IS GODS NAME DECIDED TO MAKE YOU A SCHOLAR!!

Wait...

Naa, your ok man :) Grats!

(Now if Slammer becomes a scholar I am going to jump off Niagra Falls without a shute)

Good advice all around, thank you. I just got out of a scrap with a Feral Druid 3 levels over me in Hillsbrad. That rush stun they have, and the one Warrior has, is the worst. Perusing the Feral Druid thread in a second to get some more insight on how to deal with the problem, if there is a real way.

I don't know.
I'd just level until you get TBW (the beast within, 41 beast talent), then you are charged, intercepted or hamstrung and it does NOTHING! Nothing I tell you! Wing clip, intimidation, run away and keep shooting!

Not to be nitpicky, feral druids dont stun, they immobilize.

speaking as a 70 warrior in BG's and arena, i generally eat hunters up, even the ones that get to frost trap me to start and beat on my druid healer. remember that even if you manage to get a wing clip on a warrior, he can still beat on your pet for rage generation. in this case, you better make sure he is dead before intercept is off cooldown (2/2 imp intercept is a 20s cd, default is 30s), otherwise he will just intercept you again and hamstring/MS/WW/slam/slam with some white hits in between and then execute, and at 70 my MS, slams and white hits can crit for at least 1500 each. in arena we are easier to kill without a healer, in BG you better pray we get focus fired on, one thing i love to do in BG's is to pick out the hunter sniping at my healers and pound the snot out of them as usually the pet is meleeing his target.

if you manage to keep your distance with frost trap, wing clip, concussive shot and scatter shot then you stand a much better chance of winning.

Heh, that would work, except I learned from that one, and if I am running my *** off from a warrior, no pet is on him :) Just kite the living **** out of the warrior and he is pretty much screwed for rage :P

Just keep leveling til you get the buff that makes you unstoppable along with your pet! That's what? Lvl 50? Go for 59 bg.

Of course when BW is down... read what the others had to say.
