70 ret pallies, they exist?Follow

I'm working on leveling a horde pally on a pvp server( wildhammer) and have gone full ret to speed the process. My intentions are to be a healer, but I had some questions regarding retribution. I haven't encountered many 70 ret pallies while playing on my main character. My alt at level 35, seems to blow through anything up to 3 levels higher than me and kill almost any class my level.Do they (ret pallies) stay this amped at 70? I was curious if retribution paladins have any utility in the endgame content, like instances, heroics, raids, arena, etc? Mostly I encounter healing pallies and the occasional tank ones, but not retribution. Does their damage taper off eventually or what since I've seen maybe 2 ret pals my entire life lol. Everyone always says that pallies are way more effective as healers and such, which I wholeheartedly agreem but is there a talent build and/or gear set up that can put 70 ret pallies in the competition for damage, whether it be in PvE or Arena?

There are lvl 70 Ret pallies around. They keep them in cages at the Dark Moon Faire. 2 tickets will get you into the freak show, if you want to see one. I'd recommend against it though, not so much scary as just pathetic.

Just a build that has severe dps issues due their inability to reduce threat (they could hit harder but they'd pull aggro and die). Not only that but they are boring to play. Kind of like Enhancement Shammies but without the windfury totems. When you can be an amazing healer, or the best AOE tank in the game why would you want to be the black sheep of dps?

PvE damage, not really. Arena damage, perhaps though i do not know what it is. Pallies are capable of some decent burst damage, however with the way damage has scaled compared to HP and Resilience, burst is much less of a killer than it was back in the old PvP days and fights are more about sustained dps and debuffs.

Ret pallies can do pretty damn well in BGs though and i wouldnt mind having one for some BG binges :P.

Well you know, I did something not nice. Got a 72 mute. They renditioned my Karma to Syria and it came back /butthurt.

Long story short, don't mess around in the feedback forum.

Yeah...

I probably should've read this thread before I spent 200g on new gear and a Retribution talent build for my Paladin. Smiley: oyvey

Ret. is very good for leveling and is not bad for solo-ing. But when it comes to groups they don't offer much. They are kind of a joke. BG is full of them (its the only way they can get gear and they are continually flamed for not healing.)

Now I'm completely pulling these numbers out of my behind, because my memory is bad, but I seem to remember about 80% of level 70 paladins are Holy, 15% are prot and only 5% are ret. Only people I know that ever go ret is for grinding money.
