Ok, I have a question for you experienced D/W guys. When you choose your offhand, do you pick it for the stats or for the raw DPS??? I was browsing my armory earlier and hit (Find and upgrade). Currently I have the vanquishers sword, 30.0 DPS and +28 attack power. It has it ranked #3 for me, meaning that supposedly only two other weapons are better than it for the offhand. But...there are 3 pages or recommended updates. There I see stuff with 40dps and say 7 str ranked wayyyy lower than the vanquishers sword.

So, is the 28 attack power better to keep than say a 5.0-10.0 DPS increase??? I'm just trying to see which instances I'm going to run for my next upgrades, but IDK something doesn't seem right about the recommended upgrades in The Armory..

Well... 28 ap is 2 DPS, for mh and 1 for oh (unless your d/w spec; 1.25 dps) for a total of 3 DPS (3.25).

Increasing your OH dps by 5-10 is probably an overall improvement. The armory ranks weapons based on their stats, usually their highest stat first. 7 str is 14 ap, 1.5 or 1.625 total dps. If the OH is 30 dps, with 28 AP from it, makes it 16 or 16.25 dps by itself. increasing your OH to 40 DPS with 7 str would be 20.5 or 20.625 dps by itself. this nets a total of 3.375 dps increase (includeding MH dps increase from STR and loss from the OH).

Ah thanks Devious. I kinda smelled that one coming. I guess you can't really trust the armory for upgrades, its cool to see what you can get, but can't trust it based on their #1 recommendation or what not.

I look for stats depending on what I'm going to use the OH for. I got the Merciless Gladiator's Hacker because of the high DPS and top end as well as the +hit rating (for raid purposes). I usually enchant strength on the weapons as well since AP is crucial for d/w. Speaking of which, with all my self buffs I had just under 3k AP. With my shaman buddy, and a paly buff I had over 3.5k AP. We were doing the halloween event for the brooms and stuff in SM gy and I just decided to check my AP.

once 2.3 comes into play you should be looking at the top end damage on the OH as well as stats since WW will strike with both weapons. Until then, it really depends on your gear. If you have a good amount of hit, lean towards the dps, if not, lean towards the stats. usually the weapons with the higher dps will have better [or very similar] stats in the higher levels.
