my friend and i have been arguing over a dumb topic and cant come to a conclusion. I think that a spriest vs a fury warrior will end as the spriest as the victor and my friend vise versa. Obviously i have a priest and he has a warrior :D but the argument was that in both characters, they would both have to be in the "best" gear possible for dueling (hypothetical) and then decide what would happen. Any opinions on what the outcome would be? would the priest dominate or would the warrior?

I'll reply the same way I did to your identical topic in the general forum:

Seeing how a warrior gains more from upgrading his gear than a spriest does, i'd say that in the very best gear the warrior would probably win... If its mediocre gear, the warr will usually just geat eaten.

Yea, if you're talking in the realm of most players - 5-mans, heroics, and Kara stuff - spriest should win. If you're talking Hyjal/BT level gear, warriors will probably win just because of how well they scale with better gear. I'm not sure how a Season2/3 fight would work out, my guess would be about the same as the heroics/Kara fight, because the PvP gear spends a lot of points on stam and resilience while the Hyjal/BT gear sends AP, crit, armor penetration, and hit rating skyrocketing.

A good warrior will use his Zerk rage and be immune to fear, so you cant fear it. You shield wont last long from the amount of damage he's doing.

While not the same amount of damage as a 2herhe will put out a surprisingly large amount from the BT and WW's.

well altho he can do thing to break and be immune to fear they will wear out if the duel is challenged by him pop a sheald wait a few secs and accept becuase the downtime will be lessened and then u can sheald again them fear but u should win vs most melee classes but go try dueling a lock if u think u are good

a fury warrior can dispel fear a few ways and if he has the best gear possible, he'll be dishing out massive amounts of dmg really quickly because of flurry, deathwish, bt, etc.. high end warrior gear is insane.

also if he is an undead warrior, it just adds another way to dispel fear so priests would pretty much have to stand there and take a beating.

but yes.. if gear wasnt a part of the fight... priests would probably win.

Seriously?

At any level of gear the SPriest will win. Fury means he doesn't have Mortal Strike, and while the damage is nice and all it doesn't even come close to punching through a well-geared Shadow Priest's shields and Vampiric Embrace ticks. Warriors also end up rage-starved due to the Shield and unable to put through any decent damage.

MS it might be a different story, especially with random stuns to disrupt your cast, but Fury? Not a chance.

The situation might be different if you go in pure PvE gear (all the SPriests I know don't have a lot of Stamina as they stack pretty much pure +Shadow DMG gear whenever possible), but if you go with PvP gear? The Warrior is toast.

unable to put up dmg? if the warrior had 2 fast and buff weapons.. he would tear down that shield quick.

Okay, so the top 10 fury warriors in the world can beat a shadow priest. That doesn't change a whole lot.

Warglaive of Azzinoth is a 2.8 speed MH weapon. In NO way is that considered fast. It does hit damn hard though.

And as for Fury 2h (17/44 or 20/41), they can do some nice burst damage as well. But not nearly as good as a 31/30 build would or could, because of the lack of MS.

In tier 2/3 i'd say it's pretty even odds on a spriest vs mswar. But a fury war, probably not.

Recklessness has a 30 minute cooldown; using it in duels is usually considered 'cheating' (or, at least, a very good reason to challenge them to a reduel now that it's down. =p) and even with Warglaives a Resilience-capped Shadow Priest with a ton of +DMG is going to be nearly impossible to burn through.
