I'm basically wanting opinions regarding which of the following items is better in PvE scenarios. While I see most mages choosing Bands of Nefarious Deeds over Veteran's Silk Cuffs, I believe this choice is made in error when closely comparing the attributes given. Because of this, I'm probably going to disenchant them, but I thought I'd ask for opinions before I destroy a potentially valuable item.

Bands of Nefarious Deeds:

85 Armor
27 Stamina
22 Intellect
32 Damage and Healing

Veteran's Silk Cuffs:

93 Armor
25 Stamina
18 Intellect
13 Resilience
14 Spell Critical Strike Rating
22 Spell Damage and Healing
Yellow Socket
Socket Bonus: 2 Spell Damage

I want to make the comparison assuming that the cuffs are socketed. So choosing a relatively cheap Potent Noble Topaz (+4 Spell Critical Strike Rating and +5 Damage), we can fully update the attributes on Veteran's Silk Cuffs.

93 Armor
25 Stamina
18 Intellect
13 Resilience
18 Spell Critical Strike Rating
29 Damage and Healing

Now if we consider that armor, stamina, and resilience are largely irrelevant in PvE, we are only comparing Intellect, Spell Critical Strike Rating, and Spell Damage. At the price of 4 less intellect and 3 less spell damage, Veteran's Silk Cuffs have a whopping 18 additional Spell Critical Strike bonus which, in my opinion, is the better end of the trade off. So I would say Veteran's Silk Cuffs are better in PvE (and certainly in PvP). Opinions?

I would take vets cuffs of the Bands of Nefarious Deeds on the simple fact that I'm a fire mage and spell crit with = damage makes me dr00l. Ice/arcane mages will prolly have a different say in the matter I'm sure.

You might also consider that the Veteran's Silk Cuffs can only be obtained via PvP, which a number of people don't like. A lot of raiders don't have the time or inclination to bother with it, for example.

I would personally go for the Vet's Cuffs, but then I'm a fire mage like the poster above me, and we love crits.

I have the veteran's silk cuffs with one of those +4 hit/+5 damage gems in, cause it seems like the best raid gem out there if you're not hit capped.
I'd get it, I see t6 locks/mages run around with them, so they must be good for pve :O.

I dont PvP so for me the best choice was:

Bracers of Havok
with an 8 spell crit gem

giving:

12Int
10 Spell Crit
30 Spell Damage

Veteran's braceres are great - best bracers till Al'ar.

(Stamina is not largely irrelevant in PvE IMO)
