One thing I see missing in both of your builds is Imp. Health Funnel. You'll need it to keep your Felguard alive. If you really want to get the Felguard at 50 you can, I would wait until about 58, that's when he starts to really shine, but you can use him before that if you want, just know that he is not as good as he's going to get yet.
If you really want to get him at 50, I'd go with a build like this:

Then get the 5 in Imp Corr.

As stated by Lathais, Imp. Health Funnel is a must. Don't forget that the FelGuard doesn't have Consume Shadows like the VW.
For the rest, it really depends on your playstyle. Drain Hunting or SB? For drain hunting, go with the second build with a minor change: 3/3 in Mana Feed is overkill, 2/3 will suffice. Put that extra point in Demonic Tactics. You'll have a good build for drain hunting with your FelGuard.
If you're more Destro-style and prefer to SB a lot, then go with the first build but you'll miss the Demonic Resilience talent which is an important one that makes your FelG tougher.
Overall you'll have a better survivability with the first build because of Demonic Resilience.
