I'm not sure if you've ever tried anything like it. Hell, I'm not even sure if it's possible at all, but a few moments ago I was scouting the AH for a new weapon and I came across a decent bow. I was about to buy it when something caught my attention: the icon was red (aka can't use it).

I know for a fact that I've trained the bow skill, because I used a bow from levels 30 to 50 or so, when I replaced the bow with a crossbow from AV or something like that.

What gives? Have you tried losing a weapon skill? It's not the 10s or whatever it costs I'm upset about, hell, I'm not even upset. I'm just baffled, really. Although the thought of grinding up my bow skill from 1 to 315 doesn't exactly make me wanna dance around naked in the moonlight. Or does it?

I'm not really sure anymore.

minimum level requirement? I've never heard of losing skill points.

I can level a weapon from useless to useful in about 15-20 minutes of 10 level lower than me trash mobs. I wouldn't raid or have a group count on my dps at that point but it's enough to grind or solo with. Skinnable targets are a bonus. Sell the garbage you get and you get paid to level.

I wouldn't be dancing naked in the moonlight (again that thing about blinding small children comes to mind) but I'd be quite okay with it.

Pay your 10s, and have fun!

Yeah could be a few things, first one comes to mind is level requirement, not skill level but actual level of your character. (If this may seem obvious, it should be, but I want to get it out of the way, want to cover all the bases).

Next thing that comes to mind is faction. I don't know if there are any rep rewards that are BoE, but that may be the case, something like argent dawn-honored as a generic example, you would only be able to use it if you are honored with argent dawn.

I don't know if either of these are the reasons, but they are something to look into.

Perhaps it was a crossbow? The crossbow and regular bow skills are separately trained. Crossbow skill is trained in Darnassus, I think.

My entire Bow skill is gone. I checked the weapon skills tab. It's missing. I'm 99% sure I trained the Bow skill at some point, because I'm 99% sure I spent level 30-50 with a bow in my hand.

What's really, really odd is that my gun skill is 265 when I stopped using guns somewhere around level 10.

Seriously, twillight zone comes to mind.

Ps. It wasn't level difference, my Hunter's level 63 and the bow I'm looking at is level 61.

Perhaps you were trapped in some weird alternate realist of Azeroth where guns look like bows and the bullets look like arrows?

Or perhaps the guns skill was getting jealous of the bow skill, and used some ninja skills to obtain it's identity.

This just proves that guns are evil, evil weapons!

Contact a GM in game, perhaps your skills are bugged. After a major patch about a year ago, all my blacksmithing recipes were gone on Sagall. A GM walked me through fixing some folders on my machine and poof, they were all there.

Mystery solved - and I'm going to smack myself with my keyboard.

I have two Dwarven Hunters. I was looking at the other Dwarven Hunter. I'm such an idiot. Smiley: oyvey

LOL. I was going to ask if you were sure it was the right toon you were thinking of. Perhaps you'd leveled it up on another and thought it was the one you were using. I figured that asking this would probably be a bit insulting though.

A bit like asking, "are you sure you're not really retarded?" :p

Not that I think you're retarded for the mistake. Not at all. :)
