So, as some of you know my main is a 70 hunter. I've been having a TREMENDOUS amount of fun with my rogue (just about to ding 34), but I've noticed something interesting lately.

One of the things the hunter is most famous for is the jump shot. Most of you have probably seen and/or been affected by this phenomenon in some way at some point. Well, seeing as I am fairly new to roguedom and also fairly inexperienced, I find myself wanting to jump-shot sometimes when I'm being pursued.

What I do is jump, do a quick 90 degree turn, and gouge my target. It's a term I call "jump-gouging" (thank you, thank you... clever, I know). I guess what I'm wondering is... I don't see anyone else doing this and I'm trying to figure out if I'm absolutely looney for doing it every once in a while. It seems useful in PVP against other melee classes--combat re-stealth and the like. Any other rogues with hunter alts find themselves doing the same (or similar) things?

Okay, I'll admit to doing this myself.

I too have a lvl 70 hunter main (my rogue however is at 62) and I'm also a fan of the jump-shot.

During PvP it serves the same purpose, move in one direction while fighting in another. I don't jump/gouge often but I do find myself pulling one off for a quick restealth or bandage when needed while getting a bit of distance on your target so they can't immediately hit you with something and knock you out of first-aid/stealth (but usually just first-aid).

We're all in this together, keep your stick on the ice.

I dont have a hunter main, but I do do this as a rogue...just a good escape tactic when you have a warrior on your tail.

I learnt about the jump-shot after dueling a lot of hunters and tried to apply it to rogues as well. One of the more "interesting" ways of using it is to gouge and opponent & then as dagger spec, run at your target, spin 90degrees in the air>backstab>spin back again & continue running.

Call it a flying backstab.

Great fun if you are really bored, especially in pvp if you feel like showing off or just being a general **** to low hp mages.

The jump/gouge technique is really useful in pve too when you are trying to run away from mobs & you don't have sprint / vanish up. If you are running away & you aggro an extra add, instead of letting it beat on you, jump>Gouge & then you don't have to worry about it dazing you.
