Dumbest Idea Evar?Follow

Ok, so I can come up with some hare-brained schemes; but this one takes the cake.

I was thinking about starting a 5v5 team running with nothing but Shadowstep rogues.

I know what you're thinking...just hear me out.

First, this set up would certainly have the element of surprise. Who would expect 5 sub rogues in an arena match? Many people would be too confused or laughing too hard to react after the first attack, which would go something like so...

5 Shadowstep ambushes on healer all at once.

Followed by 5 vanishes and 5 more ShS Ambs on next clothie or Leather wearer.

5 preps, 5 vanishes, 5 more ShS ambushes.

If all goes ideally, that makes the fight 5v2 seconds into the fight.

I realize this will never work in higher brackets, where Stam and Resil on arena gear would make a ShS ambush laughable. It certainly wont work if the 40sec CD on shadowstep goes live in 2.3.

These problems aside, I'm just wondering how far you guys think a team like this might get.

i would laugh all day if you all got hit by 1 frost nova haha, but ya maybe...it would require a TON of coordination lol

It sounds awesome, but the problem is to get 4 other rosues to go Sadowstep AND synchronize well enough to pull that off. The only other flaw I can see is that there are no heals (except maybe chain goige while everyone bandages). If you were to get this team together your main rule of thumb should be if you cant drop them after your cycles... run.

PS: dont forget to capture your successes on video and post 'em here :P

I can't say I haven't thought about something like that. The ambushes would need to be all at once.

Another cool idea would be 5 PoM mages...

But yeah even in higher brackets, 5 ambush crits is probably enough to kill any leather or cloth wearing single target.

I tried this in a 2v2 and it didnt work out so well. I guess because we didnt take the time to get used to it.

I did got 5 pom mages in 5v5 ...that was really ugly. Our pala did not get the chance to bubble lol. These guys kicked us in about 5 matches i think. They were starting with a nuke on the healer...than spamming sheep and taking us out one by one. Have to say they were pretty well coordinated.

If you could find 4 other rogues to go along with this, and if you guys were all in Vent to help coordination... you'd wreck house. However, as somebody said above, once frost nova and your whole timing is screwed.

Truthfully, I would SO try this...and keep trying until we ran our teams rating into the ground...However, I am on Silverhand and armory is down atm so idk if you are but i doubt it. I know! you should transfer servers!!

I'm going to have to disagree here. I don't think you guys would get very far at all. You're basically relying on the other team being idiots. You might surprise them and get the first kill, but I highly doubt you'd get anything more than that.

Even with only a 15 second CD on ShS, if you insta-kill the first healer, do you really expect the rest of their team to sit there and do nothing for 10-12 seconds while you wait for your CD? Any team with any AoE CC can easily stop you.

Even if you get 2 down, you've blown all your CDs. A decent team (even with only 3 or 4 members left) is going to be able to handle 5 sub rogues that have blown their CDs. You just have no sustained damage after that initial burst.

I would love to see that, even try it. I imagine there'd be a whole lot of sapping/blinding going on as well. And everyone having a long range sap and blind would be interesting.

Oh, it would fail at anything above a 1500 rating...but it would still be good for some serious laughs. probably fail above 1400 or ever 1300 but hey...it would still be fun to ***** around with.

Sometimes we have to remember this is a game, and thus about having fun.

This would be awesome for that.

The long range sapping might also make this remotely viable.

I suppose you could open with a coordinated full sap of their team, Shadowstep, ambush, vanish and move away before sap breaks.

Then just shadowstep ambush the second target and it becomes a 5v3 quickly and your team JUST might be in a viable position to win. Plus still would be fun as hell.

that would work only on pub arena groups (ppl dont have vent, dont know each other...)

or a group without a mage/priest/paladin(maybe)/hunter/humans or another group like urs

mage/priest(that ues holy nova)/paladiins would just group when they dont see u ppl, and spam aoe

hunters have track hidden which allows them to see u from far away

humans have preception

with the incresed distance on sap you can sap the paladins from outside the aoe range. When I was sub at 49 I would often use sap to deny flags in ab from 5 ppl at once, even pallys.

This would work until 1700ish. After that, it would just be to hard to get the opener, and to hard to knock someone down and get away safely.

it is also wayyyy to finicky. One deep wounds/rupture on any of you is game over.

it just happened by chance that they got matched up versus each other in the arena

one was all healadins and the other all tree of lulz.

LONGEST FIGHT EVER!

i just gave up watching it [too lazy/not bothered to check the end]

should have saved and posted it here..damn :\

Really, I don't think anyone would do this for a serious rating. It would most likely be for the fun factor. I'm pretty sure that I would have a beginning understanding of translating the ally language by seeing one three letter word over and over. Whatever those 3 letters actually are, I'm sure that they would translate to QTF.
