daggers is barely more damage on the fights ideal for it

swords is very good, with a forgiving playstyle that isnt raid exclusive

stay swords imo

If you are going to be raiding and such most of the time, go Daggers, as a combat dagger spec requires you to be behind your target pretty much all the time.
Combat swords is better for everything else

Swords.
Combat daggers is not what it used to be. A good player will be able to put up similar dps but will have to work ALOT harder to keep up with a sword build.
For the fans>>> i tested this in last week in karahzan(had the same party composition and 2 rogues specced combat daggers and combat swords....i used Recount and Recap for comparison).
The biggest issue between the 2 builds goes down to energy cost per ss/bs. The energy cost of ss is much better than bs. One could say that bs will do more dmg ...yes maybe if u compare let's say 5 bs with 5 ss ...BUT the issue is called energy regain. More ss will mean a faster cp generation than with bs. Over a long fight the relentless strikes will give u about 50% more energy regains with swords than with daggers>>>>>so u can get about 10 ss for 6 bs. Also if u consider the Combat Potency procs ....since swords have a faster cp generation it will be easier to keep up SnD and that will keep combat potency procs up too. The Ruthlesness talent also will be better for the build with a faster point generation ...which is swords.
And u might consider that combat daggers is really bad for pvp.
After all it goes like ....the more finishers u use the better u'r energy regain will be and u will be able to use a new finisher ..etc. So swords imo.

Combat swords is a lot more versatile than combat daggers (as others have stated). At level 60 combat daggers used to have a reasonable edge over all other builds DPS wise. This isn't true at level 70. Combat swords is actually better performing (form a raw DPS point of view) than combat daggers. Furthermore, it's a better all around build (farming, PvP, 5mans, trash), and easier to play (or shall I say less boring, faster to get into cycle, etc...).

That being said, the dagger from prince is a far bit better than the aldor sword. You would likely see similar sustained DPS using either weapon setup. Combat swords with 2x merc weapons is generally compared to combat daggers with the MH dagger from Illidan (sp?) from a DPS perspective (again all other gear being equal).

In all honesty, I switched from 41/20/0 mute to combat daggers before swapping over to swords when arena S2 came out. I saw little if any gain when switching from mute to combat daggers using the same quality weapons (only switched from a merc shanker OH to a merc shiv with malch MH in both cases). The only reason for the switch was to work on hydros and VR at the time. I would be hard pressed to raid as combat daggers over combat mute in all honesty. Mute is so much more versatile than c-daggers and if played well can do similar DPS (as long as the target can be poisoned).

Just wondering, since I'm thinking about respeccing from muti to combat swords: how's combat swords doing in farming/PvP/5mans compared to muti? I've the feeling muti is at least as good, but am I right?

There have been a lot of topics about this, but they mostly focus on raids.

Combat swords would do a bit better than muti i would say due to the non-positional requirements.
For grinding i can kill a lvl 70 mob with combat swords getting hit once or not at all if i'm lucky and i crit. You also have the bf/ar combo if u need to...and improved evasion if u take the talent. Those will make swords better for grinding imo(boring as hell tho:P).
It's a fair spec in pvp i got to 1750 rating in arena and i do have quite a hard battlegroup(after 1600 i usually find teams with a lot of gladi gear).
In 5v5 instances it's on par with muti i think. You might see a better dps with combat swords in heroic dungeons maybe but by a slight margin.
