Improved mark of the wild?Follow

#1 Oct 14 2007 at 2:00 PM Rating: Decent
Ive got a lvl 70 feral spec druid ( all pts in feral expect 5 ) with 5pts in improved mark of the wild. I am not getting the 35% improvement. Ex: with improved mark it says 459 armor / 18 atts / 33 resist.....all im getting is 340 armor / 14 atts / 25 resist. Whats wrong with this picture? Did i miss a quest or something to get the added benefits?

The buff icon you get in the top right says the same thing regardless of Improved or not. Which is a pain if another druid has cast it one you. Mouse over your own move and it should show the Actual benefit you get. Also check your resistance, this is usually the easiest one to see if you are getting the full benefit.

No offense, but what's really wrong with this picture, IMHO, is being feral and having your only 5 resto points in Improved Mark of the Wild in the first place.

I'm all for people experimenting with non-cookie-cutter, but...

1)I couldn't live without the insta-rage/insta-energy of Furor. Even in PvE.
2)For which feral talents are you passing up the 10% damage boost of Naturalist?
3)Omen of Clarity FTW! How can you pass that up? One of my favorite talents.

Improved Mark/Gift of the Wild increases the Armor boost of your MotW by 119, the attributes boost by 5 and resistance boosts by 9. Not bad benefit if you're taking that talent as part of a resto build, but in context of level 70 stats I don't see how those increases can be worth passing up the above-mentioned talents.

That's my two copper anyway.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Just to drop a little something in defense of people who do that: I once was young and foolish, too. I went ahead and picked Imp MotW nearly as my only Resto talent, without Furor.

The thing is, for someone without much experience as a Druid, the "immediate" benefits of Imp MotW seem greater than Furor. Few people will actually make the calculations and see to how little it amounts. I know I didn't the first time. ;P

But yah, in the end, if you try both talent configurations, it's easy to see which talent is superior between the two. Same for the nice talents slightly further down the Resto tree that complement Ferals so well.

Ahh, I remember back in the days when Improved Mark of the Wild was the talent to get in Restoration. It was like the gateway to heaven.

Of course, back then Restoration was the only tree really worth putting points in. All you younglings probably don't remember it, but Hurricane wasn't always a core spell and Swiftmend wasn't always the 31pt Restoration talent.

Oh, you're talking about the days when feral made you choose bear or cat and Innervate was the 31 point Resto talent... causing 90% of druids to go Resto.

The bad old days, in short.

Combat Endurance, anyone?

Having only 5 points in Resto is, kindly speaking, a silly idea. But putting them into IMotW is just stupid, sorry.

If you so very want only 5 pts in Resto, take Furor. It's uberimportant. Trust me.

If you want to pve mainly and don't expect to change roles too often, take

If you want to PvP, this combination is a must:

And finally I strongly recommend you max out Naturalist for the 10% physical dmg bonus, which would leave you with:

No time to explain stuff now, but the last 'build' (its Resto part) is worth it if you wanna PvP.
