I'm thinking about getting this set for my hunter. I've got the leggings already but just wanted all your advice on if they're worth the effort to get.

Any suggestions as to what armour would be better are much appreciated.

At least two items for the Trap bonus, and you can't really go wrong if you roll on any other set pieces that drop.

Agreed with NorthAI. Beast Lord is a nice set, and the 2 piece bonus is very nice for CC. Having the whole set isn't bad per se, but there are individual pieces that can be improved even from level 70 quests or fairly common level 70 Instance drops. So it usually come down to: Does enough BL drop for you that you'll be wearing the 4 piece set? Or, do you wear 2 pieces and have a jumble of other items? It kind of depends on your luck and inclination at this point.

Off the top of my head, here are two superior pieces which are quest rewards:
Helm: Stalkers Helm of Second Sight
Hands: Ar'tor's Mainstay

The shoulders are really good.

I have the impression that the two "best" pieces are the shoulders and gloves. The others (except the helm) don't have sockets.

Going for them all is a noble goal, but there are other good alternatives aside from those already mentioned -

- leggings from Durnholde
- chest from Black Morass

Right now I'm planning on getting at least two of the desolation battle gear set, due to the very nice +hit you get from it. Combined with two of the Beast lord, for the CD and that seems pretty nice. The 4piece bonus of the desolation is also pretty nice though.

nice way to put it. I'll be as blunt as to say that it has always seemed to me that people who simply must have all pieces because it is a set usually handicap themselves a decent bit. seems like there are almost always a few better pieces that push me to break up a set even at the cost of a set bonus.

I actually have 4 pieces, because I wanted to try out the 4-piece set bonus. But when they buffed the Leggings of Beast Mastery to give us some stats, I broke the bonus to put those on. (I'd purchased them very cheaply when they were junk and only gave pet bonuses.) And then I went and got a Thick Netherscale Breastplate, so, no going back.

My BL chest and legs are sitting in the bank. :)
