Okay, first off just let me say that I've read all the stuff about PvP here, and the great Demea guide.

I know that most high-end (2000+ http://www.geekboys.org/arena/) rogues are either Combat Maces or Mutilate, with Combat Swords 3rd if you don't have a choice.

However, what spec is best for entry-level arena 2v2 play. I'm just starting playing with a warlock and we're both starting on getting non-laughable gear. He's already got a couple epics, and I'm pretty much greens/blues. I was thinking something like Combat Swords or Maces with Riposte, some variation of 14/46, but I haven't tried mutilate so I'm looking for feedback.

Any thoughts?

If you go combat, get riposte. In crappy brackets, riposte usually wtfpwns 'cause no one gets a chain. However, I suggest you go mut. At low brackets people have laughable HP, and mut has more nuking power and CP generation (for control).

Muti and Combat are both viable choices, as long as the combat is maces for that nice stun chance. However, muti IMO is better for control. Thats just me though.

As a 3rd option, I have seen a bit about 30/0/31 for an arena build but have never personally tried it. I assume it is based on cooldowns since they are going to be up for every match.

Personally I would suggest mutilate, but it all depends on your playstyle. Hope this helps :)

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'll have to start researching how to play mute.

Well, it greatly depends on the player. Some builds are harder to play than others and take a more experienced player.

I'm not overly experienced in PvP, but I think mace spec would be a quicker learning curve.

mutilate is great: it has control, good damage, and also a nice boost to poison dps or the poison application rate, depending on which you choose. i hope you don't have any dreams about stunlocking in arena though, it's not going to happen. pvp trinkets. all i'm gunna say. plus mutilate depends on crit and resilience is gunna shut down your damage.

THEREFORE, i'm combat, and it works better for me than mutilate ever did. you can actually pump out faster damage than you could with mutilate by using adrenaline rush. the sustained dps is also more important than that spike damage of mut (resilience, etc). i'd say if your partner is a warlock, fear bombing all the time, a non positional spec like combat might be tops. your damage is gunna suck if you can't get those muts off with good timing.

I would go mutilate until you get maces and then just go straight up combat.
