PvP...who to run to? Who to run from?Follow

I'm just hitting the 39 BG bracket with a friend of mine (he's a pally I'm a warrior) and I was wondering who I should expect to decimate, who I should expect to run from or be destroyed, and who I should expect to have a good fight with. I.e. if I'm rock, who are other rocks, who's paper, and who's scissors.

Armory. I'm DW fury for quick reference, and I'm moderately well geared with my own enchants on things (and a clefthide leg armor kit).

EDIT: Armory may not update for a little while.

I was going to ask similar, so I'll piggyback here (hope that's ok, though it would be better than another thread). I did check the pinned Warrior guide/FAQ and the pvp section is to be done later lol.

Anyway, I was pondering rolling A warrior for pvp, and like skribs, was wondering which one or two classes were almost always killable, and which one or two were never killable. I know it's not set in stone, because it depends on gear, player skill, luck, etc, but I think all classess have easy and hard opponents (rock/paper/scissors, as OP mentioned).

Also additional to the info we both were looking for, I was wondering what the opinions were on best talent tree for a warrior that would only be used for pvp? Thanks in Advance.

I have a supreme amount of trouble with only 2 classes ... Mage (normally spec'd frost) and Shadow Priest.

I'm going to suggest that the reason for that (aside from the incessant kiting), is their shields. Not doing any damage results in no rage generation, and that I find kills me.

As far as easy pickings goes, you'll have fun with Rogues (most of the time), Hunters (IGNORE the pet, go for the hunter and strafe to get away from the ice trap), and believe it or not, Warlocks (if you break their fears quickly enough .. if you let them start fearing you, you're toast in the worst possible way, it hurts).

Other warriors are a 50/50, most of the time it depends on who gets the first charge in. DW warriors, I always beat ... more on that later.

Pallies never kill me, they just stand there and heal themselves until one of their buddies comes to help them out, then they run away. Kinda makes you wonder what the point is, huh? Quick word here, catch a heal with a pummel/Shield bash and you have one very toasted Pally ;-). He's essentially silenced as all his offensive and defensive casting abilities are from the same school (holy). It's tricky, cos flash heal is about a 1.5 second cast, and catching that requires good timing. Another important point is to force a bubble early on (do lotsa damage up front)... they can only bubble once every minute (using a different bubble each time), and if you catch a heal right, the fight shouldn't last anywhere near that long. Letting a pally get all the way down to 10%, then watching him bubble and heal himself to full again is just plain demoralising.

Enh Shammies (good ones) are tough to beat, they're like warriors, but they can heal themselves. Ele Shammies are a lot easier, their casts are long and easily pummelled ... you'll hate them tho if they're standing back while you're fighting their warrior / rogue buddy ... a 2k lighting bolt up your patoot hurts if there's nothing you can do about it.

Druids are pretty much the same as shammies, only a little tougher, a good shape-shifter can be a bugger to fight, but quite doable .. you just need to force them into bear form early (a few nice big crits will help with that), and from then they're on the back foot, defensive.

In short, I steer clear of frost mages and shadow priests, lick my lips at hunters, rogues and 'locks, and find my chances are even against warriors, pallies, shammies and droods.

As far as spec is concerned ... ditch DW, go arms with a big hitting 2 hander (the whirlwind axe does alright at that level). Aim for Mortal strike, the single most effective debuff in PvP. In a PvP matchup, you don't spend much time engaed, mainly due to the 2 of you moving around so much, and you need whatever few moments you DO come together to count, so a nice big crit is what you want at that point.

Biggest piece of advise, don't ever forget about your 2 most important abilities, Hamstring and Intercept ... use them often and use them well.

Hope this helps, most of this advise came from this forum when I first started, the rest has come from my own experiences. Enjoy ... if you have a holy pally behind you to keep you alive, you're gonna destroy the place. I remember taking out the mage tower in EotS when it was defended by about 6 or 7 players. Pally hung back behind me, outta sight and healed me like there was no tomorrow, I mowed them down ... all of them, never went below 50% health ... I felt like a god... no wait, a Titan ;-)

Avoid: Frost Mages, Shadow Priests, Warlocks

Good Frost Mages are almost impossible because you'll be chain-rooted and unable to get any real damage in. Shadow Priests are a pain because they're regenerating HP, have very good armor (Inner Fire + Shadowform) and PW:S means you're generating no rage quite a bit of the time. Warlocks are a pain for much the same reason as Shadow Priests, but it may be different in that bracket as none of them can have Soul Link.
