Are Ravagers any good as pets?Follow

#1 Oct 12 2007 at 8:19 PM Rating: Decent
Im a 62 hunter and i was thinking of getting a new pet, i have a bear right now, and i wanted to try an offensive pet and since there are not many cats in outlands i was thinking of getting a ravager, is it a good choice?

I love my ravager. He's quite vicious and sturdy.

Ravager is the only pet i will ever really use. Its small so as not to get in the tanks way. It has small ammounts of animation.. so it does not distract the tank like for example a bird would..

Also its a great dps pet and looks awsome to boot.

some do say that its overused.. but no more overused than cats.

heh I was thinking of posting something similar to this this afternoon.

Ravagers seem to have replaced Scorpids after the nerf to scorpid poison.

You used to be able to get 600 odd damage every second after the poison stacked 5 times...

-Ravagers are awesome pets based on pure physical damage.

-Scorpids are awesome when you are Beast Mastery for added dmg, speed, and stack Scorpid Poison with Serpent Sting.

If I recall, the nerf was that Scorpid Poison didn't scale with your gear as well anymore, right? That would only make a difference in end-game stuff with the high-end gear, and wouldn't affect lowbies much, if at all... I know I was using a Scorpid on my new orc hunter for a while and had no complaints...

What? I thought they fixed Scorpid Poison to scale with AP, and now it doesn't again?

dunno what the actually nerf was. I think it was that our AP applied to each tick instead of broken down by 4 or 5 of them and that made it way over powered. any way ya look at it now though it's just junk.

Well, I've been quite pleased with scorpid poison on my level 35 BM hunter. I can't pull aggro off my pet at all unless I hit it with an arcane shot before my pet arrives and even starts growling. The mob dies nice and quick too. I typically get poison stacked to 4 just before the mob dies. <shrug>

My 70 hunter has a cat, bird and boar. So no scorpids for him ;)
