Level 70 fire mage here, my first character to get to 70. Was wondering when I would be ready to join an arena team? Should I wait until I get T4 gear? What is a good measure to determine when I'm able to be of good use to an arena 5v5 team?

T4 is certainly not necessary. But if you're serious about the Arena PvP, consider getting a lot of the BG rewards. Not sure how much time in there is worth the effort, but I'd imagine at least grabbing the non-set epics would be worthwhile.

Thanks a lot, both of you. I was wondering if the those epics would be satisfactory enough for an arena team. I also will probably respec to frost.

blue drops and blue quest rewards with some sockets, battlecast set, and nothing less then The Bringer of Death staff.. a few enchants on em all and you'll be good to go. Once you start getting points you can start picking up some arena gear (start with the chest).

That's how I started... going from BGs and arena to questing/farming for stuff to make my spellfire set. Now have 4 pieces of arena gear and 2 BG epics as well as battlecast/spellfire for raiding.

Run a few heroics, and get the Spellfire set. I actually prefer fire to frost. 3 minute mage always anihilates their healer before they get a chance to do anything. But that's just me. Some people swear by ice block.

While i'm usually fire, my favorite move as frost is gift of the naaru > Ice elemental > Ice block when i'm almost dead. The elemental pummels away at the oponents and snares them while i regenerate safely in my cocoon.
