Hey all,

Newbie mage alt here who has a quick question i couldn't find answeredwhile browsing these magical forums ;-)

Is a Frost/Fire build viable for levelling/general-play up to end-game with?
i.e. a 0/21/40 or 0/20/41 spec (or perhaps a 2/19/41 even)?

Opinions and comments on the pros and cons would be greatly appreciated as i've never played a mage before.

Does losing such arcane talents as POM, Clearcasting make huuuggeee problems?

The dps and versatility that could be possible with a frostfire build might be fun and rather good if played well? (lots of options, get-out-clauses etc?)

Thanks for your time, guys.

I personally wouldn't recommend it, but if you really want an elementalist build for leveling, I'd say go 40 into fire then 21 into frost.

Personally, I'd either go very deep frost or very deep fire for leveling. Something like 10/0/51 or 10/51/0.

Elementalist works well enough.

Infact it works better than it did Pre-TBC.

You have alot of new mana efficiency, and alot of nice new techs.

I don't get why you're wanting to get so deep into Ice though, for leveling it i would suggest going deeper into fire, going into Ice for the AE and utility portion.

If you build a Shatter ice build you're not going to want to cast anything but frost - and for good reason.

A REALLY nice AE build can be made with 0/41/20.

A Great PVP Build can be built with a Myriad of different options ranging from 16/13/31 to 0/41/20
