So, guild finally started running Kara recently, and we're about halfway through. I've set up a list of gear that I think would maximize my DPS. (I used Shadowpanther for most of it.)

Head: Netherblade Facemask
Neck: Worgen Claw Necklace
Shoulder: Merciless Gladiator’s Shoulderpads
Back: Drape of the Dark Reavers
Chest: Chestguard of the Conniver
Wrist: Veteran’s Leather Bracers (x)
Hand: Netherblade Gloves
Waist: Veteran’s Leather Belt (x)
Leg: Skulker’s Greaves
Foot: Edgewalker Longboots
Ring1: Ring of a Thousand Marks
Ring2: Garona’s Signet Ring
Trink1: Bloodlust Brooch (x)
Trink2: Romulo’s Poison Vial
MH: Merciless Gladiator’s Shanker
OH: Merciless Gladiator’s Shiv
Ranged: Merciless Gladiator’s War Edge

The stuff followed by an X is stuff I already have. Here's the questions:

#1: Merciless Gladiator's Shoulderpads or Bladed Shoulderpads of the Merciless? I know I need more +Hit (Have 144 in PVE gear), so gemmed up, Bladed would give me +32 and Merc would give +16 if I ignore the socket bonus. Also, is the +hit worth giving up all that +AGI?

#2: What gear (aside from the weapons) would you deem priority among the rest? My Armory profile is http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Gorefiend&n=Dizmal for reference.

Thanks in advance.

That gear list looks pretty solid. Best of luck to you in getting all that gear! Here are some additional suggestions and answers to your questions:

- The merc shoulders actually end up a bit higher on the spreadsheets for me personally. I just checked by replacing my T5 with both the merc glad, and the bladed shoulder pads. Obviously, our gear isn't on the same level... so I would recommend that you follow the link in my sig and ***** around with the spreadsheet yourself. Short answer to your question: both are good shoulders for DPS at your current progression level. Use whatever you can get first. As for your hit, it is a little low, but your other stats are good and your hit will greatly improve as you pick up kara gear... so don't worry about it.

- Since you are scryer, you should pick up socrethar's girdle from the quest in netherstorm. For PvE it's better than the vet piece despite being a blue. Furthermore, it will increase your hit and doesn't waste stats on resiliance. Alternatively, you can do heroic black morass for the girdle of the deathdealer (which is a direct copy of socrethar's with upgraded epic stats). Obviously, the vet belt is decent, and great for PvP... so you didn't waste points by buying it (I'll be getting it as my last piece of epic honor pvp gear very soon).

- You need to enchant that cloak that you currently have. Put 12agi on it (the primal air takes less than 15min to farm and the rest of the mats are cheep). That's pretty much the best blue cloak in the game (possibly along with one from a heroic) and deserves this enchant.

- Work on scryer rep ASAP so you can get the good shoulder enchant. I recomend farming the blood elves on the big ramp at the black temple area. They are easy as pie to farm with mute. This is how I got to exalted with 0 gold spent in 3 days. You will need this shoulder enchant for every upgrade... so just get it done!

As far as what gear to put on priority:

- Nblade 2 piece bonus is great for raiding. Both Nblade pieces are excellent (the helm from badge turn-ins is on par with nblade, it lacks the set bonus)

- The neck from badge turn-ins is almost exactly the same as worgen claw but has a 100% drop rate. Don't fret if you can't get the worgen claw one.

- Shoulders... again glad has a 100% drop rate

- Drape of the dark reavers is an excellent cloak... that being said... so is your blue. The drape and the poison vile were the last 2 things I got form kara... it took well over 6 months of running pretty much every week.

- The chest is great... no question about it. T4 and the one from fathom lord are better... but this is a solid pickup and significantly better than most of the blues you might come across (unless you are rocking 2pc WW with the chest giving you the 35hit set bonus).

- The vet wrists are great and will last you into T6 content DPS wise. The only (marginal) upgrade is in TK from solarian. They are better than the ones from maiden.

- Sulker's greaves are better than T4 leggings. They also have a junk gem bonus and allow you to gem them with pure hit if you want (I origionally did) and then swap gems as your gear matures. These are an excellent pickup and worth putting the epic (50ap/12cr) patch on!

- Edgewalker Longboots are the best boots you will see until T6 content, get them, and cherish them. They are the best piece of gear you can get from kara. If you want a nice temp upgrade... get the fel leather boots made. They are readily available from a host of different LWers... and cheep to make!

- Rings: both listed are very good. I have never seen curator drop his ring. Get either one of the two and use it with the violet signet at exalted. Hydross drops a very nice ring too (basically garona's with upgraded DPS stats and less stam). Settle for whichever you can get first of the other two if you are unlucky (like me).

- Those trinkets would be a great combo.... but there are 3 others in gruul (DST), and then SSC/TK (tsunami tal and warp spring) that are better than both of them. Again, get the poison vile if you can... because drop rates are not gauranteed and there are multiple classes that will try to take your "rogue" trinkets (aside from WSC obviously). Your current trinket selection is good to begin with.

- Obviously 100% drop rate on the weapons from arena... and good choics. This would give you the opportunity to swap back and fourth between mute and combat should the need arise.

- There are better ranged weapons than the glad throwing weapon for PvE. I would personally use any of the guns/bows (from attune, prince, and big bad wolf opera) over the merc thrown... Use your arena points for this last, as it makes the least difference. The thrown weapon you have currently is actually very nice stat wise... additionally you can get felsteel whisper knives made if you want to.

In the end, remember that your DPS is equal to the sum of all your gear and stats. You don't need huge amounts of hit, crit, ap, etc... rather you should have a balance. I can tell you straight up that you can EASILY max your hit out in full kara gear. Hell I've been replacing my hit gems with agi because I was starting to go above the cap. Hit gems are generally the best gems to use as they add the most DPS per stat point until you get to cap (and then it's going to be agi for most people). However, don't let having high hit blind you on gear decisions. If you can get 30 ap by dropping 10 hit... do it... I recommend playing around with the DPS spreadsheet for sh*ts and giggles to see how some stats interact and such!

Holy hell, thanks for the epic post, rate up.

And yeah, that's just my gear from Kara until we get up to ZA/25 Man Raids. But thanks for your input.
