Choices, choices - Re: SHAMANFollow

Choices, choices, indeed.

I have played a fair few chars to 70, but kept only a few active so far.

What I'd like to do is have a crack at a shaman.

Does anyone have a link to a description of which build suits which style of play?

I reckon I might lean towards Enhancement, as I once discovered a build that I liked the look of: HERE

I also came across a nice levelling guide, for an enhancement shaman: HERE

That said, it seems that an elemental would be quite cool. Is that more ranged, than close up? If you can point to any uber builds / levelling guides, that would be great.

Thanks.

I asked a similar question a bit ago, you can find it here. I'm in the middle of leveling my shaman and I've found, even with comparable gear around 30ish, Enhancement is a bit better. I tend to kill the mobs a bit faster and I don't have to drink to often. Though, from everything I've read, Elemental becomes very viable once you hit the Outlands and start seeing the +Damage and +Spell Crit.

if your wanting the best DPS possible IMO go elemental, in ym shaman experience i found that we have much faster burst damage than enhancement... and the faster your target is dead, the better

atm im lvl 61 but here is the build im going for

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0503215500021505100000000000000000000000050005041005213000000

i found thT this looks like a SOLID pve build for instances and raids, as well as UBER L33T for pvp

edit: for wrong link... sorriez! :P

My favourite character is a hunter, which means I like the ranged possibilities of the Elemental shaman. Equally so, the reason I am going shaman is because it's all new and I like DPS, so perhaps getting up and close would be a good idea.

I'll need to check out some more builds, as that link seemed to be broken / did not work.

Thanks.

Well since you said you'll want to get up close and personal, I'm going to assume you'll want to go enhancement.

For that reason I'll suggest this build.

I like this build because it has a bit more mana conservation, group utility, at the small expense of individual survivability.

ruinatorveks elemental sec is more or less for raids... if you want big endgame raids... use his, if you want good solo and pvp use my build.

also i found your enhancement build flawed... your build seems like raid as well... yet you didnt choose improved weapon totems or 2h axe-mace...

your resto build also has a flaw... restoration shamans are not usualy in the role of "healer" their job is to drop totems, do a little fighting and off-heal
but u didnt put a point in totemic mastery natures guidance, or totemic focus,
i will point out that your two points in enhancement were well spent

im not saying mine or yours is right or wrong just putting my 2 cents in here... and trying to help OP

I reckon I've done a fair bit of research, but still need to do some more.

EDIT:

The Elemental path looked (/looks) good to me, but I have enjoyed the melee angle and reckon I'll now go enhancement.

On one page, I read:

"This tree is rather rich in good talents outside the "magic" boundaries. It's easy to spend 50 points here, without wasting a single one."

What I'd like to do is crank out as much DPS, from Enhancement, as possible.

Where do you reckon the points should go?

I found something called: Synergy Enhancement Build

Would anyone change how those points are distributed?

With 2.3 coming my new Enhancement build will be this.

This is a PvE build. For PvP I would leave out everything past SS and spec deeper into Resto for NS.
