What to do.. profession questionFollow

Good morning all,

I got a dilemma, my druid is now 61. The profession I have right now is Skinning/Leatherworking. But, I got no use (or almost no use) of LW right now until lvl 70. I'm at 286 right now and most point will take some farming to do at the moment.

Since I'm kinda poor (really bad choice of things to do early in my druid life, don't ask me what, he had a 3-6 months vacation, so I can't remember). I was wondering, should I drop LW and take Herbalism and herb my way through the levels until 70... or try to level my leatherworking and make those nice items at 70?

I'm a tribal leatherworker (even though I'm feral), I may plan on going healer for end-game (or the small extent I'll see with my druid).

As I said, I am not sure what to do with that. Since I got back on my druid, I only opened my leatherworker skill once (to see what level I am and what I can make) and that's all.. I don't feel like it's that interesting. But again leveling a new profession can take some time.. and won't help me level to 70 :D

So.. what do you guys think?

Stick to it. You're gonna need your Heavy Clefthoof set if you're staying Feral for tanking. And the leg armors sell for quite a bit too.

If you're seriously thinking of healing though, I think the Primal Mooncloth set from tailors is better than Windhawk set.

And other LWers can't make the set for the OP because...?

I know that sounds inflammatory, just trying to figure out why that's a good reason to keep LW >_>

Op- There's no right or wrong answer here. You have skinning, so your leatherworking is already potentially rather simple to level for 'free' (opportunity cost notwithstanding); if you take herbalism, you're going to be doing a LOT of running around in old world gathering herbs to get your skill up.

Check your server economy, you might be better off just sticking with what you have and selling your skinned leather once in a while...on my server, the money I make from skinning is three-fold what I can get from gathering herbs (even ancient lichen). You have the benefit of recycling knothide scraps into full knothide too, which obviously boosts your natural profits.

+20 to strength bonus? =) Well, nothing is stopping him from changing his profession, but as he said, it is going to take a lot of time and effort to do so. I personally changed my profession (to Enchanting) at 70, and boy, leveling it was a pain.

Thanks both of you.

I still haven't made my mind.. but I'm kinda reluctant of changing my profession due to the fact that it will slow down my leveling =) And I did spend (I mean I guess since I don't remember) some time leveling it to 286 or whatever level I am at :D

Thanks again ! :)

I would say stick with it. If you are ever in the endgame raiding, or even just picking stuff from the AH some of the really good patterns make BoP stuff so you have to be LW for them.

Boots of Natural Grace anyone?

If you're feral you might want to consider switching to Elemental and getting the Primalstrike, I did, and haven't replaced it yet even farming Kara and toying with the 25mans.

This is mainly assuming a feral approach, if you are set on healing, then Bloodthunder is right, go tailoring and get the Primal Mooncloth. Windhawk has good heals but is a hybrid set for the boomkin too, PMC aims purely at heals.

Skinning is fine both for money as well as for getting the raw materials for the clefthoof set, the leg armor, or the stylin' hat. Paying one of the many LW skilled chars to do the combines 5 to 15g is a lot easier than trying to do it yourself in LW for just the few pieces.

My druid (63) already has the clefthoof boots as they are pretty cheap (e.g. 15g) and I have plans to farm in nagrand for the hides to make the other 2 pieces. So, look at your servers economy to choose either mining, herbs, or maybe even tailoring for your other profession. IMHO, LW is a dead end as long as you can hire/buy to get the pieces done you need.

Herbs or tailoring are a lot easier to skill up than mining. Farming for the mats (or the money to buy the mats/finished products) is far easier than skilling up LW.
