I have Terokk's quill, but I also have Survivalist's Pike.

Terokk's Quill is on Athien's list, and it's blue, but my damge increases by a couple of points with the pike, and I believe I need more int than stam.

Ordinarily, I'd go with the better stats, but I was uncertain as to why it was working out this way. Plus, the pike looks awfully puny and the quill is pretty nice looking.

Here's my armory page. I'm slowly working my way down the list, but I'm the fourth 70 in my guild, and it will be quite some time before I can run instances regularly. I'm hoping to at least be able to replace the helm and gloves with SMV quest rewards soon.

Any insight would be appreciated :)

I personally would go with Terokk's Quill, even though you lose 10 AP (19 with Careful Aim) you get a nice chunk of crit that's always helpful. which would be better for your overall DPS.

So lets compare those two:

Survivalist's Pike:
21agi
30sta
20int
40ap
A BM hunter gets at level 70: 61AP, 0.5%crit, 300mana
Terokk's Quill:
54agi
33sta
A BM hunter gets at level 70: 54AP, 1.4%crit, 0mana

So the difference between those two is +7AP, +300 mana -0.9%crit when you equip the Pike instead of the Quill. The 3sta is not relevant at all (although you have quite low HP currently, but 30HP won't change much here).

As a BM hunter Terokk's Quill is the better weapon.

A MM hunter would get another 9AP from the 20int. Then you would have to chose between 16AP and 300mana or 0.9%crit (and I would still chose the crit).

A SV hunter will go for the Quill as he gets even more agi from it.

So regardless of spec Terrok's Qill is the better weapon but with a MM spec it is rather close.

Thanks guys :) I've read a few of the number-crunching posts, but I still don't have a good feel for how things balance out.

And about stamina - I've often been confused about the priority it's given by us. I know it can't be neglected altogether, and I know it passes to some degree to my pet. However, I find myself low on mana much more often than I am in danger of dying, so I had figured int would be more useful to me. Besides, we shouldn't ever be getting hit, right?
