Ok I think this is a fresh topic.

I am sorry if it wasn't in advance. /ducks {Please don't shoot!}

I am looking for some advice about this specific set.

I just ran my second lvl 70 instance and low and behold another piece of the Beastlord set drops. So now I have the Chestpiece and Gloves.

I was told I really only need 2 pieces of this set as the set in completion is really not all that good.

So here's the question.

1.) is this true?

and yes I said question but I have more than one.

2.) if it is... then what pieces should I aim for as good items to keep on me? (I am still pretty much decked out in quested greens and the 2 marksman items from Halaa. See sig if you want to see what exactly I am wearing)

I am asking for help and or advice.

Thank you for your time.

The only 2 pieces I cannot find replacements until much further down the road are the Helm and the Gloves, the shoulders are arguable upgradeable with the Beastmaw Pauldrons in Kara

Would it be a bad idea to get the full set while I wait to run some better instances in hopes of better gear?

No by all means, go ahead, it is a good set, unless you are a leatherworker you should have it for awhile, Im just saying the 2 pieces you won't replace for awhile ;)

Now just checking, the kill command bonus is worthless correct?

No

Every tile your Kill Command hit you ignore 600 of the Target's Armor, IE: More DPS :)

Not useful enough to keep more that 2 pieces if you get an upgrade item though.

I got a real quick question on this topic as well. I am currently using only the gloves of the beastlord set, and im wondering, after i get my 2nd piece, should i try and get some of the desolation set for the pure RAP, or should i just stick with what i got and get ready to start up kara finally?

as a careful general opinion, it depends quite a bit on spec.
Desolation has no agility iirc, which is commonly thought to be the most
important hunter stat, and even more so for a survival-inspired build.
I guess for BM or Marks, agility can partially be replaced by attack power
and crit, but I believe I have read (with proper backed up arguments), for gems
at least, that agility gives the most value for money regardless of spec.
