Charger Quest - Help (update)Follow

#1 Oct 09 2007 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
On didnging 60 i was striaght off to SW to pick up my epic mount quest, i quickly got through the the tasks, with a little help from the F.A.Q. and my guild. It was easier than i had expected. by the next day i was ready fro scholo so asked in /g chat if anyone wanted to come. it ended up as me (60 and healing, in retri) a 70 mage, a 64 rouge, a 63 hunt and a56 mage. We found the basement soon enough, clearing through the trash in there and then the boss, which was all pretty simple.

i whipped out the summoner and quickly found myself surrounded by undead. now the plan was to the let the hunter's pet tank (which in my mind, is never a great idea anyway) and the rest DPS. We got through the 1st two waves ok and scraped the 2nd aspect, the pet wasn't holding aggro on 10+ mobs, so i was finding it hard to keep everyone healed. However whn the 3rd wave came, there was a wipe, despite my efforts, i couldnt keep the mage up, who after a flame strike had the whole pull following him.

I ressed to find the door into the room above the basement locked. the group disbanded after a few minutes and dissapoited, i logged.

Sorry for the essay but i need to get the picture striahgt. My question is: is it our tactics, group build or soemthing else? I'm thinking a 60+ tank would be a very good option. Is this quests genuinelty hard or is it just me? Any advice would be great.

thanks

I heard the quest is a ***** for Alliance. However, I would rather blame the party setup and strategy used.

Granted, I have no knowledge of the mobs you're facing. However, if you have a really high level mage, I'd try using BoP on him while he AoE's everything. Trick is, he *has* to kill them all before the bubble wears off otherwise even at 70 he'll be torn to shreds.

On another note, a real tank would be highly advised. In fact, I'd suggest a Pally since they're awesome at multi-mob tanking. The mage could let him build enough aggro and then start blasting stuff away. Other types of tank may work as well, though perhaps not as effectively.

Other than that, I'd let other people who have hands-on knowledge of the quest comment further.

I would say tactics first, then group setup.

When I did this quest, I ended up going in with 3 other pallies and a lock I hired to make things go a bit faster :P. One pally tanked, I healed, everyone else just did dps.

You didn't mention if you know this, but the ghosts who come after you once you plant the item thingy (I forget the name) are all weak against a different judgement for each wave. Judging the correct seal on any of the ghosts in a wave will stun all of them as well as dealing a fair bit of damage. With 4 pallies in the group I had, we kept the ghosts pretty much permanently stunned and killed them off so easily our tank barely even got hit.

That said, if you only have the one pally (ie. yourself) you'll probably need to find a tank or some CC. Those ghosts don't hit all that hard, but a couple of the waves contain quite a few of them and it's just easier to deal with them a few at a time. Of course, you could just get a bunch of 70s and murder the fight :P. I wouldn't suggest that course of action, personally. Nobody on my server seems to want to do the high-level Azeroth instances anymore, although you may not have that problem.

To sum up: Take a well-balanced party, use the correct judgements at the correct time, and you should be riding that golden charger in no time.

P.S. I can't remember what the sequence of judgements is, but I'm sure a quick search will turn it up.

Edit: How come I always miss those stupid errors on the pre-post read-through?

pretty sure that if you go to wowwiki.com and put in the name of the quest it will tell you what blessings to use. I agree with the other posters, you do need at least 2 pallies, but more helps with cc. The trick is that when you judge the right blessing with the spirits it stuns them for a second, so having 3 pallies that can stun 3 different targets makes it a million times easier. I did it at 70 on my pally with a 63 pally, 70 lock, 58 shaman, 58 warrior. Wasn't to tough once we caught on to stunning the mobs instead of trying to take them all on at once

So lats night i rouded up three 70's: a hunter, a pala and a warr an set off to WPL get my epic mount. However, with no rogue and no key to scholo, we were standing outside trying intimidating shout people through the door (it doesn't work) until finally a warlock shows up, we soon found out that he wa polish and didn't undertsand "kill yourself" or "life-tap". I ended up transtlating a short essay on what he should do (dictionary.com FTW) and we got in.

20 minutes later i was riding around hellfire at 120% speed :D

Thanks for the help, the seals made it so much easier.

You are an idiot, no offense.

You have a spell that you can use to sacrifice yourself called Divine Intervention, you should always have regeants for it on your person. That would have made 20 minutes of waiting and overcoming language barriers unnecessary.

i am an idiot...

I even had the regeants for it. I am an idiot.

Incidentally that spell is fun to use when just messing around with people in your group. Cast it on someone and if they don't know Paladins too well, wait for the "wtf, I can't move??? Why are you dead?"

I get lowbies in my party then duel them and use that on them.... quite funny.

You don't take durability damage so it doesnt really matter, just gotta do the corpse run.

... know what? That makes me an idiot too, lol. I was in Heroic BF the other day and we were running back after a wipe. We got to the second boss's room, and someone pulled the lever. The door into his room closed, while the other door remained open (we had killed said boss), but I was still on the other side of the door and couldn't get through. So, I took off my armor and went to find a Rogue mob to kill me, then get rezzed to the other side. I coulda used DI ...

So, don't feel bad =P Even we "pros" do stupid stuff ;)

EDIT: typo.
