I'm just wonder which you prefer? I'm SV and so an AGI hound, but the added AP and crit of the cobrahide intrigues me.

Arcazua's thread on AEP (agility equivalency points) gives a clear edge to the cobrahide. I haven't started farming the cobra scales or primal airs yet, are they that much more difficult to get than the clefthoof leathers and primal earths? The clefthoof leather wasn't that hard for me to farm (I'm a skinner), but the primals are a tedious pain and I don't expect that to be different from the air to the earth.

Anyway, I'm just curious, especially since I got the cobrahide pattern 5-10 levels before the clefthoof.

Cobra Scale is a ***** to farm. Been tearing through the areas in Shadowmoon Valley so many times it's ridiculous. Crappy droprate combined with low mobdensity. As for which patch to use... well. It kind of depends on your stats to begin with. What do you need the most? Do you have sufficient Agility for EW? Do you have alot of AP but little or no Crit/Agility? All these things play into it, and you will have to answer it yourself.

Never seen a hunter with the Clefthoof, unless they have it on an arena pair of pants :)

theres a Cave in SMV that has a TON of the snakes inside of it. the skinning cobra-scale is HUGE and the scales sell for 15-20g EACH on my server o0.

go check it out. Remember, inside the cave, not outside!

Yeah there are only 2 places to get the scales, but they have such a crappy droprate from either SMV or Nagrand that you have to spend 2+ hours killing/skinning to get maybe 6 scales.

i'm getting 10-20 scales a hour easily... maybe i'm lucky? But i bought my epic flyer selling these alone, at 15g a pop. lol..

You can also get scales out of proper "snake" snakes in a plateau in the far west of Nagrand. It's much easier than Coilskar Cistern. There's a bunch of owls that flee from you (I think they're for the druid epic flight form questline.) and the giant snakes.

Ok, I know that survival hunters love agility, but 10 Agility + Lightning Reflexes is just never better than 10 crit and 30 attack power.

i've used clefthoof on pretty much evry cheap pants i got from the moment i could make them.
At the moment they are even on my current pants because else i'd dip under 7k hp and i dont really want to do that.

********* I have personal experience farming a Stylin' Purple Hat that says otherwise (took me ~2 hours for two of em), and even wowhead disagrees:

See how many times those have been skinned? BY WOWHEAD ALONE? They wouldn't cost what they do if they were 10-20 an hour easy to get.

It all depends. For pure DPS, yes cobrahide is better. However, for the added AP to group, and the added health to you, clefthoof is better. I use clefthoof on my hunter atm, and it works just fine.

I have to say though, if i had ~250 more hp, i wouldnt even think of it and switch Clefthoof for cobrahide within a minute or 2 ;)
As long as you are under 7k HP or pvping, clefthoof is better imo.

a little to the east of the other place you can kill snakes.
And they are still travelling in pairs of 2 and that cave isnt any better then any other place.

I went with clefthoof (nethercleft actually) because I needed more health. AP was good, crit was good ... health not so much.
