Unfortunately for you, choosing horde makes it difficult to get one of the best feral druid weapons early on in the game. Smites mighty hammer.
11str and 4agi = 26 atk pwr in kitty form.
What? Smite's hammer is not quested for - he just sometimes drops it. Any horde can go in there and get it. Get a lvl 70 friend to run you through to the tauren a few times - and you'll get it. Unless I disremember something...?
I started playing more hunters and warlocks. I found it easy to kill high yellows, oranges and even reds - even though I had bad gear.
This was not doable for me as a druid. Oh, I could kill hard mobs, but it was much harder - and I died more often, way more often. I also had trouble dealing with adds.
In cat form, you don't always want to stealth and sneak up on the target - if it's in a target-rich place whree you will get adds. Instead pull it out. I used to have better luck pulling in caster form and backing off. If you zap and back off, even a casting mob will follow you - once you leave it's cast range.
You pull it to a safe place to fight, regen, maybe reapply the dot, enter cat form and shred it.
You have to learn in feral when and how to switch for good effect. To win some fights with adds, all you have to do is pop to bear form early, before you are hurt. Otherwise you have to go to caster and heal - and risk getting killed, cuz it's a slow heal with them hitting you - but do the straight heal first, then the regening one - and even though you're hurt, going to bear will allow you to survive with a fresh regen on.
Killing as bear is slow, but you have ac and hps. Sometimes if the add is a caster it makes more sense to stay in cat and just shred the caster really fast, killing it. Then go caster, root the remaining mob, back of and heal, and then finish the fight.
Most druids carry around two or more sets of armor. Str Sta agi for feral - int sta +heal for healing. If you instance, you will be asked to heal - and even though you are feral spec'd, you can heal if the tank is not a total wimp. You must have some int gear for the mana to do this, though.
I can't remember all the gear. WC and DM have nice leather items. And good staff drops in DM. SFK ... very little for druid there. BFD .. can't remember. You can search drops by instance (Items... By Zone...).
